Default Come On S&W... Fix the Dots!

I own a 9mm Shield yet I have never handled one of the full sized M&P pistols or tried their triggers. Fast forward to today. My son and I were at a local gun shop today and on the wall among the hundred or so handguns was the full sized 9mm M&P.

I asked to see it and as I brought the sights up on this new handgun I notice the left rear white dot was missing! I mean really S&W?? I'm sure this new gun gets fondled by customers, but it has only been fired by the good folks at S&W and is "new in the box".

Now the trigger... My Shield has a fairly heavy trigger pull which is noticeably heavier than the other striker fired handguns I own (I will refrain from using the "G" word for those who are upset by it). I have read posts from several praising the Shield's trigger when compaired to the full sized M&P pistols. When I pressed the trigger on this "2-dot" pistol I now know why they praise the Shield...

Sorry for the critique, but S&W you've got to fix this problem with your sights and lighten/smooth these triggers!

Must be with the newer sights. All my M&P's are older and I've never had a dot fall out yet.

I got my 9MM sheild a couple a months ago. Took it to the range 2 weeks later. On the third mag, the front white dot fell off. Haven't decided on what to do yet. Why send it back if the problem isn't fixed yet by Smith??

Why not get some white enamel and fill the dot. Easy, and it will hold up better than the original. Plus, you won't be without your gun for several weeks. There's nothing special about the factory white dots.

My M&P 9F lost one of the rear white dots at 2 months old and 500 rounds, just a dab of white nail polish did the job holding strong for another 1000 rounds. In a near future the sights of my M&P 9F and M&P 9c will be replaced by Truglo TFO.

Same thing happenes on the M9's. Just dab alittle white paint marker and fixed. Don't even have to go to a Glock armorer class... LOL Mine seem to be holding up pretty good in the ziplock back I put them in when I took them off and put on TFO's. The need for a light trigger is a crutch.

With respect to your trigger. I prefer a lighter wt. trigger. My Shield had a pull of nearly 8#. I bought, and installed, a Apex Hard Sear and it dropped to 5-3/4#. Perfect for me.

I agree that S&W needs to address the dot issue. For now, it is not corrected. Live with it, paint it, install different sights, or buy another brand of firearm.

Am I the only one weary of hearing people complain about their dots falling out? There must be millions strewn across ranges all over. A drop of paint and a toothpick costs almost a penny.

What happened to a little self-reliance????

Perhaps Apex Tactical will make some replacement white dots.

I have no problems with the dots and I'm happy with the trigger on my 9mm full size M&P.

Maybe S&W should just send 'em out without their poorly applied dots since we have to paint them anyway. At least if I do it I'll know all three dots will be there if I need them.

Back to the original post, unlike my Shield which took 100 or so rounds to shed a dot, one was missing on a new in the box M&P at the local gun shop!

I guess I expect a little more quality than some.

Edmo
