Default Front Sight on my Shield

Was at the range putting some more rounds through my Shield 9 when about on the fourth mag, the white dot from the front sight post fell off . I was like wth and thought that was very weird thinking it was painted on. Needless to say S&W will be getting a phone call. Anyone else ever experience that?

You are fairly new to the sight so yes this is a known problem and usually corrected by using nail polish or some other paint, here is a link to many threads here http://smith-wessonforum.com/searchr...39j23931401j33!

From the members post the last couple of months there have only been a few that have experienced the white dot phenom.Yes ,let S&W know, but I would NOT send my gun back for such an easy fix, white out/dab of white paint and your back at the range.I changed my sights (bad eyes) and put on trijicon hd's so I could pick out the front sight easier and faster. It is a small inconveinence I know but home fixable.

Hopefully, one of these days, S&W will find a new sight vendor... or come up with a better solution to keep this from happening.

I don't mind as long as it keeps the cost down! Sucks but use some paint and call it a day!

I would not bother CS on this. Ia little dab of white paint with a tooth pick the follow up with Glow ON paint. I am using the Glow On until Trijicon comes out with sights.

XS Big Dot night sights will cure that problem.

I just wish S&W would drop the price $50 and offer s Shield with no sights.

I have the stock set sitting.g in the drawer.

Yes happened to my shield 9mm on first trip to the range. They ought to use a solid sight where the material is actually a different color instead of a hole with cheap paint. I will be repainting mine as well.
