Default I've got one too!

Yup, you guessed it. I'm now a member of the Shield Club! Just picked up my 40 this afternoon. Serial # DXY32xx. Magazines seem tight with very little movement, but they do not have the "bump." The magazine release does require about the same amount of pressure as my FS 40. Anybody else have one in the DXY range close to mine that has/hasn't had the mag drop problem? Also, once I got home, S&W had sent me a blue plastic case with the foam cut for the Shield. Anyone else receive a case from S&W for theirs? I was fine with the cardboard box it came with, but the blue plastic is just icing on the cake! Range report soon

Good luck with the Shield. Nice looking and feeling gun no doubt. I have heard both great things and bad things about them. For that reason....I have not purchased one yet. Maybe you can convince me to do so....

Congrats! I got one of the early 9s, and never got a plastic case sent to me . Must be a new policy? Still very happy with mine regardless.

Yep, DXY33xx. Same thing, mags fit tight, but release also was firm and required nice amount of pressure......until about 60 rounds...then both mags dropped, both are loose, and mag release is easy. Waiting for return shipping label.

RobsTV, both of your mags dropped? I won't be able to get to my property to shoot until this weekend. If mine does drop the mags, I will probably put the "bump" in the mags myself first and see what happens. Still can't figure out why I received a case today. I didn't order it, but if S&W wants to start sending me stuff for free and leaving it on my front porch, that's fine with me! Can't wait to see what they send me tomorrow!

Very nice that you recieved a blue case. Does it have your model and serial number on the case external sticker, like normal S&W retail guns with cases ship?

Yes, both mags drop. I would have done the mag dimple bump myself as well, but the Shield's sights are so messed up that it needs to go back to have them correct that, so might as well have them correct the mag release as well. The rear sight actually overhangs a little on the left of slide. QC must have had the day off. Might see if they can do anything with the trigger too, since it too is not anywhere close to what I was expecting. The worst trigger in the house.

No stickers on the case, just a plain case with the foam cut for the Shield. Only thing that was included in the box was a packing list that said medium size blue case. I looked on S&W's website to see if they had an announcement about it, but there is nothing. Hopefully S&W will make yours right
