Default XS Big Dot sights on Shield 40

i wasn't all that thrilled with the stock sights. my eyes aren't what they used to be, and these sights seemed to be a good idea. i also installed them on my M&P 45 full size. FYI, the shield sights are not the same as those for the rest of the M&Ps.

the installation was fairly easy. the rear sight on the shield was very tight, and i used a sight pusher on that one. otherwise, the supplied plastic punch worked fine. i simply put the sights exactly in the center of the slide and went to the range.

i am happy to report that both pistols shoot to POA and no adjustment will be required.

shooting with these sights is easy. as per the instructions; put the big dot on top of the rear post (dot the "i") and then put the big dot on your target. this is not a 6 o'clock hold........you cover the target with the big dot and fire.

i'm very happy with these sights. the big dot has a tritium vial in it for low light use.

some ****** pictures;

funny thing happened today at my regular indoor range. i was shooting the shield with 180 gr Blazer Brass ammo in the far right stall. the interior wall of the range is immediately to my right and is covered with sound insulating foam. the muzzle blast caught it on fire OK, not exactly fire, but it was smoldering and smoking. they had to evacuate the range and use a fire extinguisher on it!! hahaha, at this point i decided that i had done enough damage, so packed up and went home

one other thing; my shield 40 has never had any malfunctions to date. love it.

The fire was most likely caused by unburned powder driven into the soundproofing over time. I have seen this a couple of times. The last one was ignited by a Desert Eagle .50 AE
