Help With Magazine Loader
I recently bought a used S&W M&P 9mm Compact from a private seller. Somewhere along the line of his ownership of this gun, he had lost the magazine loader. My question is, Is there a specific brand of magazine loader that I need to buy or will any 9mm magazine loader work? I looked at the Uplula magazine loader at my local sporting goods store but on the back of the package it didn't have the particular S&W M&P model number. It had other S&W models but not the M&P 9mm. Any feedback or help would be appreciated, Thanks👍

Uplula is the best $30 you will ever spend on your fingers and thumbs. I am a part time RSO and I give mine to customers to use every time I am on duty. Thousands of loaded rounds with no problems. I sell at least one of these things every shift I work.

So would any 9mm Uplula mag loader work for my S&W M&P 9mm compact? Even though its not listed on the back of the package?

Yes, uplula loader is not gun mfr specific, only caliber specific. If it says on Uplula packaging that its designed for 9mm ammo, It WILL work with your S&W. I have several S&W semi autos from 9 to 40 to 45.... The one uplula works with all of them. The uplula is an ingenious loader, wish I had thought of inventing it! Good luck.

Uplula, you need one, unless you have strong fingers.

I agree the Uplula is great. Mine is good for my 45acp, 40 S&W, and 9mm. Works great and with a little practice it loads quite fast.

Yup... 9mm to .45, Single-Stack or Double-Stack. It even works with my .380s.
The UpLula (Universal Pistol Maglula) is the only mag loader you'll need.

I don't think the UpLula will work with .22s, it seems like I read. But it does work for everything I have, from .380 to .45, and it is something I will never be without again. It has definitely spoiled me! I have one in my desk at home, and one in my range bag.
One suggestion I recently read: when loading magazines with a polymer follower, load the first round by hand, and then use the UpLula for the rest of the rounds. That way, the metal tongue of the UpLula won't gouge the follower. I don't know if that's bean sprouts or not...seems like the rounds themselves being stripped when the pistol is fired would gouge the follower too, but anyway...I've started loading the first round by hand. That way, I feel like I am more manly...

I think it's bean sprouts . I read that post too, but so far I've had no damage to my mag followers and I use it a lot.

If you shoot frequently the first accessory you need to buy is the Uplula mag loader. It will save you hours of range time with healthy fingers.

The mags on my M&P 9mm FS are much stiffer than on any other semi-auto I own, including the M&P 45 FS. the Uplula is a real finger saver. If you're a fan of Hickock45 on YouTube, you will notice that he recently discovered it, and uses it all the time now. Great item.

You definitely don't need to load the first round by hand. Another baloney internet myth.

Uplula packaging is small. No room for lots of details. Font is very fine. Front of package card says "Loads all* 9mm, .357, 10mm, .40 and .45 cal pistol magazines." On the back it says "Loads them all*: Astra, Auto Ordinence, Barak, Baretta .... S&W,...Taurus, Vector, Walter, Wilson Combat, and many more." The asterisk (*) note says "Will not load Magnum Mags. Will not load few types of mags, and mags with less than 7.8 mm between their lips."
For those who say you don't need to load the first round by hand, the instruction (again fine print) says: "TO AVOID SCRATCHING THE FOLLOWER, LOAD THE FIRST ROUND BY HAND."
Overall, Uplula is A GREAT, inexpensive loader! (And made in Israel where they know their weapons!)

Uplula is the way to go. I used it for all my 9mm and .40 Cal. I do not use the Glock Loader that came with my G23. That thing seems lame compared to the Uplula.

Uplula hands down the best mag speedloader I have ever used. It works for single stacks and double stacks regardless of caliber. $30 seemed high to me until I bought one.

What was the greatest thing before sliced bread?
+1 for the Uplula. Got one for every caliber I own. Except .22

I have 3 suggestions:
1. Uplula
2. Uplula
3. Uplula
Any of these 3 will do.

I am glad to hear the Baby Uplula works fine on the M&P 22. Wonder why they say it won't work on the M&P 22? In all the literature I've read the M&P 22 was included in Magazines that won't work with their product. I guess reading some threads that guys post with having success says it all.

Don't know but if you need an Uplula to load your .22 mag, something is wrong. That's what that button on the side is for - to pull the follower down and a cartridge just slides neatly in.
Also, does a new M&P come with a mag loader? I've never seen one. Maybe in the special range kit, eh?

Uplula gets my vote. To be perfectly honest, I've never needed a mag loader before...rounds loaded fine with my 45's, 9mm's, and my one GAP; thennnnnn I got the Walther PPS 40, and damn if it is next to impossible (unless you love pain and broken fingernails) to load those mags. Works like a charm, and no bandaids or manicures needed afterwards.

Personally I don't need a mag loader for my M&P 22, the wife also shoots and it's a little easier on her hands/fingers. I have the little piece of plastic loader called "brass stacker" and it works just fine.
I just purchased an M&P 9 full size and you get no mag loader. Not sure if any gun comes with one. I do use and need the Uplula for the 9mm though. Maybe I'm a weakling, but those mags have some pretty strong springs in them.

I meet the gentleman from Israel who designed the Uplula loader at the 2013 SHOT SHOW. My wife has S&W 9MM compact and has some arthritis in her hands making it hard to load a magazine. I bought her the Uplula loader and it is amazing how fast she works.
I told the gentleman how happy my wife was with his product and he told me anytime you can make a women happy with any thing it was a success !

They may be referring to the S&W M&P 15-22 Rifle, which uses a much larger mag. I load the 25 round M&P 15-22 Mag by hand because it has load assist buttons on both sides - piece of cake.
