Default I installed the Apex Tactical Flat Faced Forward Set Sear Kit in my C.O.R.E.

I ordered the pistol from Buds Guns. When I received it I found that the trigger was worse than any firearm I've ever owned. I was ready to sell it at a loss if the Apex kit didn't fix the problem.

That kit improved my M&P Pro C.O.R.E. 100%. After installing the kit I'm happy again. Most of the people that buy the Pro C.O.R.E. want it for competition or at least informal target shooting. I keep wondering why didn't S&W put a decent trigger in it to start with?

BTW, my trigger pull went from 6 lbs 8 0z to 3 lbs 4 0z, exactly half. And the creep and take-up was eliminated.

I purchase my Pro L for the same reason and same thing my trigger was the same way, I did called CS and mentioned that the specs on the website specified that it was to have a 4-5.5 trigger pull. The CS rep argue with me that the spec was 6# so I sent him his own specs for the website and my gun went back to get fix, after all of that my gun still at 6 # so I'm very disappointed.

Easy answer.... Cost. Just think about all the discussions online comparing cost of pistols. The reason the Army is shooting the Beretta is that it was cheaper than all the other submissions. And cost at the manufacturing level increases the retail cost by multiples. If putting a better trigger in a M&P cost an extra $20 to manufacture, I suspect the retail cost would go up at least $100. (everyone that handles the gun gets a markup).

Every single pistol that I've handled that had a stock trigger in it was sub par, except for one. The PPQ M2 has the NICEST trigger I've ever felt in a stock gun. It matches the feel of Apex triggers, if not slightly better. The VP9, 40 triggers still sucked for me and I hear alot of people praise them. However, the PPQ M2 stock trigger, WOW.

I've got three Sigs and all of them have very nice triggers. And my Colt 1911 and my Kimber 1911 both have excellent triggers.

I have three Glocks and they have reasonably adequate triggers.

I expected more from S&W because I have several of their revolvers and have been very satisfied with them.

If you think the factory M&P trigger is bad, try a Glock. I have both, and both are barely "decent".

My M&P Pro C.O.R.E. has a poor trigger. I figure it is 6+ lbs. I got the ported Performance Center 9mm C.O.R.E. and it is not the same gun. The trigger has to be 2 lbs lighter. Melanite slide vs matte black on the 40cal, adjustable over travel, and of course porting. The difference in MSRP is only $43. If I had of known there was that much difference for so little money, I wouldn't have bought the Pro C.O.R.E. 40cal. A little due diligence on my part would have helped.

Maybe Randy @ Apex gives S&W a kickback. It's the perfect symbiotic relationship.

I have several M&P's and every one has a fair to very good trigger and every one of them goes bang when I pull it. We are living in the era of "it's the gun, not me". Whether that's a poor group at the the range or someone shooting the floor of the bathroom (or their own leg). When I started shooting my first instructor made me dry fire a Ruger P94 DAO with an extremely heavy trigger spring. Said it would both increase my finger strength and make the S&W 5904 DA trigger feel light and smooth. It did just that. I wonder if nowadays if every gun should come with a free hand exerciser. Yes, my competition and fun guns have Apex sears. Love 'em. But my duty gun, my home defense gun and my off duty carry guns all have that awesome 6# trigger. Wish it was 7.5# or so, but I train enough to not let stress & adrenaline overwhelm me. Many apex equipped M&P owners can't say the same thing.

I agree with that. I started wanting a really accurate range gun. The C.O.R.E. 40cal with the 6+lbs has been relegated to being a duty, home defense. The 9mm with the great trigger will be strictly a range gun.

I have plenty of other firearms for conceal carry. I bought the C.O.R.E. for a range gun because of it's optic ready feature.

By the time I get done fixing it I hope it will become my favorite competition gun.
