New M&P9c for my wife
So after taking the CCL class with my wife, it would seem that it's time to buy her a pistol of her own. Went out this afternoon and put a M&P9c on lay-a-way for her. It fits her hand better than my pistol (Ruger SR40). I can hardly wait to get it off lay-a-way and take her out to shoot it. She held 10-15 different pistols and the M&P felt best to her. During the class a couple of weeks ago, she shot my pistol better than I did. Instructor advised me to never p..... her off! It's nice to have a wife that takes interest in shooting !

My wife rented a half dozen guns before she settled on the 9C. She never leaves home without it.

Every gun store around here, plus Gander and Cabelas have layaway.

Wow, we just bought a M&P9, put it on lay-a-way today also. My wife and I decided nearly a year ago we wanted to get into IDPA, I've got a Sigma, a Kel Tec PF9, she has a S&W 442 with a CT. We've done a few classes including a full weekend including night shooting, car jacking, etc. There are occasional 'BUG' shoots, (although recently they seem to be more frequent), but the thought was instead of a bigger revolver, she wanted to try semi auto. Several gun shows picking up and trying for the best 'feel' for her finally bought her to the M&P, 9mm since most of our other guns are 9s also, (including a Kel Tec Sub 2000). As happy as we are getting the gun 'cause this means we are getting closer to actually getting to shoot IDPA together, (as has already been said, how cool is this, having a wife that's into shooting as much as I am), finances have been REAL rough the last couple of years so this represents a bit of a rebound. Can't wait!

I carry a 40c but my wife carries a Kahr CW9. She likes my pistol a lot and we may get her one. It is indeed nice to have a wife as interested in shooting as me. Our local range has "ladies" day (free range time) on Wednesdays. She heads over there by herself or with a girlfriend while I am at work.

When I met my wife the mere mention of pistols literally made her shake. She didn't want any guns in the house. She had previously shot a rifle but pistols scared the **** out of her. As of right now I own a .22 rifle, a semi-auto 12ga, a S&W 22a, a Taurus PT738 .380, and a 9c. I carry the 9c every day and she carries the .380.

Not sure if where you live maybe you can't put handguns on layaway? In Michigan I've never heard of a gun shop that doesn't allow it. The amount of time they let you keep it on layaway differs, but they all allow it, as far as I know.

I would be surprized if S&W made a left handed Shield considering only about 10% of the population is left handed.
I also read S&W was unable to make the Shield ambidexdrus and maintian the .9 thickness.
