The damn trigger! I mean I haaate that thing. Dry firing the thing, it has soooooo much grit in the trigger pull. And I highly dislike the two piece trigger. Apex trigger will come soon.

Anyways here it is!!!!

The way the barrel is down on the slide, is anything wrong?

The more you live-fire it, the better the trigger pull gets. The barrel is fine. It's supposed to be that way. Rack the slide and lock it back, you'll see the barrel tilts upward. Have fun with it! I took mine to the range today and had a blast!!!!

BTW, the Apex trigger job doesn't change out the two-piece trigger, just the internals. (Unless there's another kind of Apex trigger that I'm unaware of)

I stand corrected. :-P

I must've missed that part in the video that I watched on YouTube.

I might go shoot it tomorrow but I don't have but 50 rounds and kinda low on cash after the purchase.

I hope the stock trigger gets better but it would have to get ALOT better before it's where I'd like it.

I recently bought a 40fs and I agree! The grit on the trigger pull was nasty. Before I got it I had researched and knew I would need to do some part replacement. But after installing the apex DCAEK, USB and RAM I love this gun! Smooth pull and very accurate! I'm not having any issues with the trigger so have no plan to replace it.

Aha! THAT'S what I was referring to in my earlier post. I knew I wasn't going crazy!

I love my M&P40C! There is a little grit in the trigger pull, but nothing I can't live with. I was shooting a Sigma SW40VE before, so the 40C
trigger is like heaven to me! I plan to put an Apex trigger kit in the Sigma, but I'll probably leave the 40C alone.

Time. You need to get some lead down range and get it broke in. It takes time and shooting the trigger DOES get better the more you shoot it. I ALWAYS fine tune my new weapons when I get them. Smooth off any mold or tooling burrs, pollish a few parts. ALL my M&P handguns are stock and are tack drivers. Use it and the gritty feeling will go away.

I have 200 rounds through my 9c and the trigger feels the same as new. Very gritty. Doesn't bother me much until I shoot my wife's Taurus .380. That guns trigger pull is smooth as silk. If the 9c doesn't get better after another 200 rounds it's getting a trigger job.

It is likely not grit, but a burr in the striker blocker bore hole. I had the problem with both my stock gun and after an Apex trigger install. This video will show the fix for both:

Cool

Let me guess, you live in MASSACHUSETTS, right???

We get the 10 lb trigger here, so you need to do a APEX kit or have a Gunsmith fix it...

I just ordered a APEX kit for my new Shield and M&P 45 because I want to install it myself and to see how the APEX kit works...

The APEX trigger is still like the M&P trigger, it just fixes the trigger throw and reset...

It still has a swing section like the M&P trigger...

It's more like the Glock trigger. It's not just a pin holding the bottom half of the trigger. With the Apex trigger, you get a full length one-piece trigger with the trigger safety in the middle.

I still feel like the USB is the biggest upgrade part that APEX offers. But then it was also the most difficult part to put in as the rear sight has to be removed and put back.

The Apex Forward Set Sear Trigger kit comes with a trigger like the Glock and Springfield XD triggers. The lower part of the trigger does not flex, it has a center lever for the trigger safety. The kit is on sale for $160. You can buy just the trigger for $75. If it was me, I would spend the $85 extra for the full kit.

I have a Shield 40, with only the Apex sear and blocker installed. The Shield's trigger is different than the rest of the other M&P's. It has a slightly straighter lower trigger (safety part) and my trigger only has 1/8 inch take up until the upper trigger starts moving. I have no problem with that small amount of safety take up. I did have a big problem with the "gritty" trigger pull. My post #12 above shows how I fixed this problem. Trigger is now smooth through the break.

I've made a over travel stop in addition to the Apex parts. This link is to the video showing the trigger action:

M&P Shield With Apex Trigger and Over Travel Stop - YouTube
