I looked but was not able to find a factory S&W .357 Sig barrel for my .40 compact. To be fair, I did not call the factory to see if they had any available.
I purchased the Storm Lake barrel from Midway. Dropped into my pistol without any fitting required. I've only had a couple hundred rounds through it so far, but it shoots very well and to the same point of aim as the factory .40 barrel.
All you need to convert the compact is a barrel. The mags and recoil spring assemblies are the same between the two calibers. The mags are marked .357/40. You can also use the .40/.357 full size mags in the compact if you want.
.357 Sig factory ammunition is more expensive than .40 ammo. I reload and like the potential of the round. Its hard hitting and accurate. Reloading the Sig has its quirks but can drop the cost per round quite a bit.
