Default Shield IWB favorite?

I have a Shield 40 on the way and will be getting a tuckable IWB holster...but which one's the best?
Opinions please.

I like my $50 crown holster modular:

Royal Modular Holster

You will need to add the tuckable clips to your order, another $15.

I wear it IWB every day, very comfortable. I doubt you will find one "best", there are many recommendations in this forum for various brands.

I just bought this FoxX Trapp. Couldn't beat the price, quality and customer service. Should be here in a day or two. So Stoked!

Purchase Leather and Kydex IWB Hybrid Holsters - foxX holsters

Just an update...I've been wearing the FoxX Trapp for a little over a week. Amazing! Love this IWB holster. I like many others with their particular brand hardly know it's there. Great product/Great price!

A few minutes after putting on my Crossbreed I hardly know it's there. Although it is a bit slow to acess when sitting in my car/truck, so I unholster it at those times.

N82 Tactical Pro. Mine should be here tomorrow and if it's anything like the one I have for my Glock 23 it should be all I need. Only wish I'd have discovered it for my Glock before buying an Old Faithful and Crossbreed Super Tuck. www.n82tactical.com/n82store/

I have the Little Foxx IWB holster. This is the best holster that I have ever had. Comfortable and secure. Plus a great price. Love it.

I have the Comptac Mtac that I like. I espectially like how the kydex bodies are interchangeable so I dont' ahve to purchase a whole new holster for each gun. My brother has a crossbreed supertuck so I was able to compare both side by side. Each had it's own pros and you couldn't go wrong with either. I can't comment on the others metioned.

My favorite IWB by a large margin is the Concealment Solution Black Mamba CE. Way more comfortable than others I've tried and it's nice and thin (especially with the horsehide upgrade) so it compliments the Shield well.

Never had or tried an IWB holster. I live in Florida where the temps are usually very warm and humidity high. Shorts and T-shirt is the usual daily dress. Comfort and concealment with perspiration is the challenge down here. Have a new S&W M&P 9 Shield to carry and try out.

Comp-Tac Infidel is nice for quick trips. Milt Sparks VM2 is very comfy but the wait times are long. Crossbreed and similar kydex/leather holsters are comfy too but they're geared more towards larger guns, not pocket pistols (same with the VM2). PJ Holster is the best value in my opinion. Raven Concealment will be coming out with a Vanguard 2 for the Shield soon so if you like AIWB and concealment is the #1 priority, you might want to look into that. Vandalia (I think that's her name) did a review of the Shield VG2 prototype on YouTube. I hope they make one for the other M&Ps soon. My 45c needs one ASAP.

Here's a few pics of my N82 Tactical tuckable with my Shield. LOVING it. So much easier to carry than my Glock 23 - but even that's manageable with the N82 I have for it also.

As I said previously - if I'd have bought my N82 for my Glock 23 first it would have saved me the $ I spent on my Crossbreed Supertuck and Old Faithful IWB's.

Comp Tac Infidel. If you're worried about sweatting , hot weather etc, this one is good. 100% kydex with no leather or material backing to worry about getting nasty.

Ive had one since May and love it. Wore it all summer even while cutting grass in 100 degree weather and had no worries. Check out the link below for pics.

I ordered this one last week still have not received it but reviews on other sights have been great. Paul will work with you how ever you want to change the holster.

I am partial to High Noon horsehide holsters. I have one for every gun I own. The Shield, being as compact as it is, lends itself to IWB tuckable holsters (IMO) and this one from High Noon is a dandy:

With a pistol the size of the Shield, why don't you just use a pocket holster?

I've seen posts from some that like pocket carrying the Shield and others don't. I doesn't work for me as a pocket pistol. The size and weight just make it uncomfortable in a pocket, but it's great IWB.

I carry a Shield everyday, depending on what I am doing on a given day will dictate one of two holsters.

Its either a Crossbreed Super-Tuck or a Desantis ankle holster. Both are amazingly comfortable.

This is just my opinion, but it is based on a drawer FULL of holsters....ankle rigs, hybrids, belly-bands, IWB, OWB, pancakes, paddles, leather, kydex, horsehide, leather and nylon versions....some are comfortable and some are UN-wearable.

I think you may have misunderstood the question. It wasn't necessarily "pocket carry".

Because the Shield is so light and small, a very comfortable minimalist pocket holster works very well. Note that pocket holster does not mean pocket carry, and in fact most pocket holsters work better when used as IWB holsters. The great thing about a pocket holster is you get two holsters in one. Carry it normally IWB, then on the rare occasion when you need to, you toss it into your pocket.

Not the best pictures due to using my phone but this is a holster that I picked up from Al Latour. He only has a facebook page as of now but this holster is awesome. Very comfortable and picked up for around $75 with shipping. These are custom leather and kydex holsters that he promises you will get within a week. Love it! Enjoy

I like the Remora as well. I had a problem with the magazine release getting depressed on the trim, because I'm left handed, and Alan is making an altered holster for my altered draw.

Do they only come in carbon fiber color or does he have just plain black?

Really need a holster for the Shield since I pick it up tomorrow.

Not a fan of carbon fiber look BUT that holster looks great!!!

Thank you in advance for the response.

ETA: tried "al latour" search on Facebook. There's a few so not sure which one.

1+++ for Old Faithful.
They also give you options to buy a fully assembled holster, that's the price range as other well known hybrids, or a semi assembled holster that you finish putting together for about 1/2 price $35.00!

Panther Concealment makes a very nice IWB for the shield. About a 2-wk turnaround time and he'll work with ya to customize it for your particulars. They use all-black kydex, or if you want a number of other materials such as carbon. Once on you'll forget you're carrying!
Google 'Panther Concealment' and check his homepage and also look at the images. Price is nice at around 42.00 base.

I went with Crossbreed mini tuck and a PJ IWB w/IWB mag holder.

Bought them used (but they pretty much new) so I don't lose out if I don't like them.

This is my favorite holster for the shield. I don't even use my Milt Sparks I just got after 6 months of waiting.

This is a Bearcreek I had made. Very good quality for a realistic price.
Be safe, Frank.

Sold the PJ. Just didn't like the belt loop.

I ordered a micro carry from RDR Holsters.

I ordered it Friday but haven't heard a word and don't expect to as it was the day after Thanksgiving.

This will have to do until Raven releases (if ever) a VG2 for the Shield.

Who knows, I might not even get a VG2 if the RDR is good to go.

Picked up my .40 Shield this morning and decided to try the Foxx.
Just have to decide on the Hybrid or the Little FoxX ?

Because the Shield is so light and small, a very comfortable minimalist pocket holster works very well. Note that pocket holster does not mean pocket carry, and in fact most pocket holsters work better when used as IWB holsters. The great thing about a pocket holster is you get two holsters in one. Carry it normally IWB, then on the rare occasion when you need to, you toss it into your pocket.
Been thinking about getting another holster, and this was my idea. Looking at the DeSantis Pocket-Tuk for the reason that it is a tuckable holster that allows you to remove the clip and use it as a pocket holster.

Currently I use an Old Faithful holster and like it a lot. Affordable, tons of different ways to customize it, and very comfortable to carry.

Any chance that you could do a quick review or give us your first impressions of the RMR for the Shield?

Sure. In 4-6 weeks when I get the holster. That was from January 20th when I ordered.
