Mine are pretty high tech. A pinkie extension for my 7 round mag and an inner tube on the grip.

Aside from the invisible Apex sear change, I usually do a texture grip job on any pistol that needs it, and the Shield really needs it!
The grip texture is done with PC7 epoxy, which is laid thinly on the factory grip zones. A layer of black hobby sand is applied to the epoxy. Once dried, the grips zones are spayed with Graphite Black Cerakote to seal and provide the factory black matching tone.
When finished, it looks as though the grip came textured from the factory.
I only wish that all Shields had the m2.0 treatment, so that aftermarket textures and stripling is not longer needed.

I have the 40 and I like the safety because I carry IWB most of the time. I train to sweep the safety every time but you all know the safety is not easy to push on and off. I used JB weld and built up a little 'extra' bit around it. A little filing to shape and color with a sharpie. This has lasted for a year.

Started out as a standard No-Safety S&W Shield 9mm (2014). Now has ~2,000 trouble free rounds through it, mostly 115 grn FMJ. This is carried infrequently when I need deep cover, usually in Thunderwear, but I have a traditional AIWB set up for it also. I carry a full size gun daily.
Added the Shield RMS 4 MoA Red Dot Sight milled into slide by Suarez International (SI) 3/15/17.
Heine Straight Eight iron sights (standard height, co-witness through RDS).
Apex FSS sear, safety block and springs.
Grip textured and Cerakoted Sniper Grey (was supposed to be FDE like the holster--may go back to SI).
Mag removal reliefs at bottom of magwell.
Slide stop adjusted to auto-forward reliably whenever wanted.
Stainless Steel Guide Rods single spring RSA.
MagGuts in both mags: standard 8-round becomes 9 and with one in the chamber, I carry 10. The backup mag holds 10. That's 20 Barnes TAC-XPD 115 grn all-copper bullets on board.
Family Crest on slide cover and standard mag bottoms.
All internals well polished.
Holster from JM Custom Kydex. I made the RDS cut. The holster is already extended 1" for stability. I have loop velcro on the back and replaceable cushion for the bottom inside for both comfort and to keep the grip pressed inward. I carry AIWB @ 1 o'clock, mag carrier at 11.
I have a Precision threaded barrel coming.

I've had this for 4 years, put the Talon grip tape and TRL-6 on right away.
Last summer I put TFO sights on it and got around to Cerakoting the slide.
My next Cerakote project will be doing my .45 Shield in a desert two tone like I did this FS .40:
