This nice stipple job was done by a friend to his Shield. Very lightly stippled to a sanspaper like finish similar to Talon Grip tape. He did my Shield too but also did the front grip strap for me. It's awesome. If you'd like his contact info just email me or PM me. I'm not a stipple fan but this stuff is just perfect and looks factory.

No customizations to mine yet. However, I did see a guy who had painted (maybe) the shield logo on the slide. It looked nice, I wanna ask him how he did it, but I cannot remember where I saw the picture.

How is it racking the slide with the NP3 finish? I've heard it can be "slick" with the natural lube properties of the finish. Any difficulty handling it?
Looks nice!

Bob...I guess it is a little slicker than the Melonite finish but not so much that it is difficult to rack slide or otherwise handle. So far, seems to be wearing well also.

Sweet pistol.
Man I wish I got the Shield .40 instead if the FS MP40!
Don't get me wrong, I like the the FS MP a lot, I just regret not getting the Shield.

Did you trim the excess on the Talon Grip or just overlap?

I'm going to do a sight upgrade on mine.
For those of you who have...did you do it yourself? If so, what tool(s) did you use to make it so?
Thanks.

Since I heard so my horror stories about how tight they were, even those I have tools including a sight pusher I sent it to James at XD-HS200.com for 20 dollars wasn't worth my time. I had the sites but you can purchase them from him. He also did my gunkote .

Well so far I have done the APEX trigger kit (stupid Mass 10 to 15 lb. Trigger), XS Big Dot Sights and a Crimson Trace Laserguard...
(yes the sights are off, I hadn't sighted the gun in when I took that shot)

I just got a MP Shield 9 and had AmeriGlo night sights installed, Galco I/W holster and 4 - 8 round mags. I will have a Apex trigger installed to match my M&P9 Pro and my M&P40 Compact.
I might do a stipple job but it is strictly a concealed carry only so no fancy color or bells and whistles. I might do Gold lettering on my M&P Pro that would be cool.

Polished the internals to smooth the trigger, polished the feed ramp and chamber, polished the magazines, and stippled the front and backstrap of the grip. Standsrd prcedures for any of my pistols.

Replaced the poly back plate with a billet one and added a small extension to the shorty mag.

I have the first two they ever made, and yes I sent the factory one in so they could use the factory spring. The advantages is the cycling is so much smoother, the back plate that buts up against the barrel is not some slim, flimsy piece of metal this is all cnc parts. So there will be no failures of the gun randomly stuck open (reason why both of my first gen shields had replacement guide rods they both failed.)
Trust me when you feel the cycle action in comparison to the factory guide rod it is night and day difference.

Do you think the gun will handle recoil worse with the removal of the inner spring? Just a thought.. I am very interested in getting one but would like to get a spring that would mimic factory specs

what's the turnaround time for this? And how hard is it to do if you don't send the guide rod?

I just got back from the range I was shooting my 1911 I just did a trigger job on and I sent 5 mags down range in my shield.... all I can say is night and day difference and I do not have the apex kit installed. The cycling is so much smoother, but I will do the torture test video and have it posted.
Just go to ssguiderods facebook for information, like I said I have two for my shield and they were the first two they designed. If you send your old guide rod its cheaper because there is no spring to pay for.
Comes out to like $30 I think.

The information on their Facebook page made it sound like they don't supply new springs (yet), and that you have to disassemble your factory recoil spring assembly and use the primary (outer) spring with their guide rod. They did say that you can send your factory recoil spring assembly to them and they will swap the spring for no additional cost.

Yeah if you just send the factory guide rod they use your old spring you don't have to take it apart yourself. Just saves on money for your end, unless you just ordered guide rod and bought spring from S&W or glock, etc..

As far as I know, S&W (as does Glock) puts a finish on top of the melonite treatment. The slide finish on recently manufactured S&W Shields has been changed to be slightly darker than the earlier version. If you want to see the true color of a tenifer/melonite treatment without a finish on top of it, then look at the slide of the Walther PPS.
The NP3 finish contains teflon which supposedly gives the slide a slightly yellow hue in certain light conditions. Regardless, its a nice looking finish. I am thinking about getting my Walther PPS's slide refinished with Robar's plain'ole electroless nickel finish.
