Default Just fell in love with a 40c. My review

Well I got the pistol yesterday and took it to the range today. First thing first, last night I broke down the gun and cleaned it and lubed it up. (synthetic motor oil)

Now keep in mind I was shooting around 10 yards away. This is going to be a CCW pistol and I don't plan on shooting anyone much past that realistically.

First thing I noticed was that the very first shot was in the red. The second shot was about an inch to the left. The third shot touched the first shot in the red. Holy hell this thing is accurate!!! Now I did have a stray go about 3-4 inches off to the right. Overall the gun can hit where you aim. I've MAYBE fired 500 rounds through different pistols in my life but that's it.

Second thing I noticed was that 40S&W "snap" wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Definately not as bad as a .357sig. Rounds I was using were Speer Lawman 180gr.

I just had an absolute blast with the gun. Put 100 rounds through it today and wish I had more.

I was sighting in my AR at 50 yards also and I had a milk jug set out at 25 yard mound. So I had a target at 10, 25, and 50 yards. Just messing around I blasted a few into the 10 yard target, moved out to the milk jug and hit it the first shot, it jumped to the left and I hit right in front of it, said what the hell and aimed at the 50 yard target. It landed in the upper right corner but damn, I'm honestly impressed that I hit it at all!

I've never been so in love with a pistol as I am with this one. Don't get me wrong, I like my father-in-law's Glock 32 and I was sooo close to pulling the trigger on a Glock. But after shooting the M&P there is no way I could go to a Glock now.

My question is what backstrap do you guys use? I'm torn between the large and the medium. I have medium size hands but it SEEMS I shoot better with the large grip but the medium FEELS better.

I have the medium on mine right now, but I do feel that the large affords a better feel in the palm. Seems that there is more "meat" there to purchase a great grip. I took mine to the range yesterday too... LOVE my 40c! :-)

Since I have small hands, I went with the small blackstrap and set the magazine release for left handed. I'm really happy with the ability to make it "My 40c". I have not tried any of the other backstaps. I got about 800 trouble free rounds down range. This is my first .40S&W and I prefer the 180gr. bullets. I am also very impressed with the accuracy.

I have also done a "Burwell trigger job" to smooth it out a bit, picked up a 9c barrel and 9mm magazines too. Still just as impressive, accurate and reliable when set up as a "9c".

You're preaching to the choir when you say you love your 40C!
I recently purchased one because I didn't want to wait for the
Shield anymore & I haven't regretted it a bit. I use the small
backstrap right now but plan to experiment with the other sizes.
I added Trijicon sights & purchased two of the X-Grip extenders
along with two full size mags. I'm going to leave the trigger
alone because its fine the way it is to me. Happy Shooting!

40c...nice choice with plenty of knock-down power and easy to conceal.

Youtube it, and you can see many videos of how it's done. Mind you, it's not the easiest thing to do if you're not comfortable taking down the pistol to its small parts. And there is a chance you could go too far and end up having to buy replacement parts if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

You should experiment to see what works for you. I found the small back strap to feel better but had better accuracy with the medium.
