Default steel cased ammo in 9c

I keep finding deals on steel cased ammo. my 9c is my EDC and I don't want to do anything to do it to compromise reliability or wear out the extractor. Can I shoot steel cased ammo through it or should I not?

Thanks!

There is no real evidence that steel cased ammo will "wear out an extractor." Shoot the ammo you buy and enjoy. Your pistol is a machine and will need maintenance, not a singel machine has been made yet that does not wear out or need maintenance.

I wouldn't worry about the extractor. I avoid steel case handgun ammo, because they are rumored to be more prone to have a lodged barrel.

What he heck is a "lodged barrel"? Anyway, steel-cased ammo won't hurt your gun. The steel is very soft, otherwise it would not be suitable as a brass substitute.

I have an M&P9c also. I started using steel cased ammo because it was cheaper than the brass. I live in Alaska and the majority of shooting ranges where I live are all outside with the closest indoor range over an hour away. With the cold weather, and while using steel cased ammo, I've had FTE and FTF about 3 times per magazine. I switched back to brass and didn't have any problems at all. The same problems happend with the steel cased ammo in my 9mm Shield and 9mm FS. By cold weather, I mean the temp was around 15-20 degrees.
