I really like what I see about the TruGlo TFO's for night usage, and the fiber optic for daylight might help as well.
However, with my Shield 40, the stock sights are great in daylight. As a true amateur, with 50 year old eyes that require reading glasses to shoot, can easily hit golf balls at 10 yards standing freehand with every shot, every time (using cast lead reloads which provide much better accuracy).
The Shield does make a nice range gun, and I want as close to target sights as I can get, with intent to shoot regularly at 25 yards. No desire for belly gun sights.
I am concerned that if I replace the stock sights, I might be giving up some accuracy. But if accuracy is as good or better with TFO's, and other benefits like faster target acquisition occur, then looks like the swap is worth while. For night or low light use, the TFO would be in addition to already installed Lasermax, which slightly reduces the nighttime benefit of the TFO's to me..
For my use, would TFO's be worth it for daylight target accuracy?
EDIT 13 hours later: And .... scratch the TFO plan. For my needs it looks like just the $39 Fiber Optic front sight from Dawson Precision will do the job best, with order now placed. Height and width same as stock, so accuracy can only get better than great.
