Does anyone shoot TulAmmo in their Shield? If so, how does it handle it?

I have put a couple of boxes of TulAmmo through my shield and it cycles just fine. It cycles just as good as any other brand of ammo that I've run through it. It isn't the best quality and tends to be less accurate than better brands (Federal, Blazer, etc) but it is just fine for punching paper or plinking IMO.

I've run it through different guns including my M&P15, its shoot pretty good, but is DIRTY, a little extra cleaning may be required.

Something I have learned is no two guns are exactly alike. We could take two guns made next to each other and they will both act differently. The best thing to do would be buy a box of Tula and give it a try if the gun feeds and fires its reliably then your good to go.

As far as steel cased ammo goes some people say it wares out extractors faster. I am personally not sold on that so I dont let it bother me.

I don't have a Shield but, I do have a FS and have shot around 300 TulAmmo through mine, no problems at all, cycles good just like the rest of the other ammo. Good thing about the TulAmmo, I think I paid $9.97 per 50. Can't beat that for range ammo. =D

It's ****** ammo, but my M&P ran it just fine.

Only problems that I had with that ammo (in all of my guns) is the fact that you will get one or two rounds that fail to fire.

Don't look, reload and shoot!

I've shot a couple of boxes of Tula through my PF9. No problems, shot fairly clean, no malfunctions, accurate enough, no damage to the gun. Then I found out that Keltec does not recommend steel case ammo. I don't know about S&W or other US gunmakers.

I guess steel cases, being a harder metal than brass, could accelerate the wear on some parts, particularly the extractor. Arguable, but enough reason for me to leave the stuff alone except in my comm bloc plinkers. Besides, I can't reload those steel empties.

If taking Tulammo to an indoor range, make sure they allow steel cases.

I am personally not recommending TULA brand ammo. We are seeing it display primer-flow. As such it is eating breech-faces. We've seen it on Wilson, Ed Brown, Kimber and Glock pistols.

Glock has even gone so far as to start telling their cadre to not recommend TULA brand ammo.

I am aware that TULA is supposed to be the same ammo as Wolf and the like, even from the same factory, but we are only seeing it on TULA label.

A Cabellas was forced to pay for pistol replacement since they sold the ammo to a customer as well.

As for steel case and all that stuff, I have no concerns. It runs fine and isn't a problem. It's training ammo.

If I had a few cases of it, and I was reading this post, I would still shoot it. I just would check the breech-face before every shooting session. What's it's condition? Every few mags, I would take 1/2 second to look at the BF. If it exhibits erosion / pitting I would stop shooting. A little pitting, while not preferred is not a deal killer in itself.

If you let it go and it becomes worse and worse, that is when you will have problems.

As to why this is happening, we can't be sure. It's NOT pierced primers. It seems to be low quality primers that don't seal the pocket properly.

I will never ever again use this ammunition in any weapon even for the range. It is dirty and hard on your weapon, and is cheap but not flawless. It seized up one of my M&P 45's after about 39 rounds. No other ammunition has ever done this to any of my M&P's and I own 7 of them from 9mm to 45.

I know ammunition is sometimes hard to find an expensive but that is what it is now days but saving a couple of bucks is not worth the damage ****** ammunition could do to your weapon. If you are practicing to save your own life it is only worth it to use high quality ammunition that is a bit more expensive and made here in the United States

My range will let you shoot just about anything other than Tulammo. They have had several over pressure issues that have catastrophically damaged weapons. Luckily no one has been seriously hurt.

I shot 100 rds of 'Monarch' steel case ammo from Academy Sports. Had 1 FFE. Nasty stuff. I believe this ammo is made in russia...probably re-boxed Tulammo. Spend a little extra and get a 'better' grade of brass cased ammo. Got a good deal online for WWB 9mm NATO 124 gr. Shoots great in my shield. Good range/plinking ammo.
