Default M&P FDE Color Filled Slide Pics

I posted pics the other day of my M&P w/ the FDE backstrap and mag release button. The idea was brought up to color fill my slide engravings in FDE to accent it. So the paint came in today (thanks Amazon Prime) and it honestly took about 5 minutes per side, start to finish! That's it.

I prepped with rubbing alcohol, then applied the paint with a q-tip. Let it air dry for a couple mins, then hit it with a blow dryer for a couple more. Then I used a paper towel with non-acetate nail polish remover to gently wipe the excess paint off. It was super simple, and I think even just 1 coat looks great.

The Detroit PD etching and gun # didn't really have enough depth to take the paint as the factory engravings did. Still I'm happy with the result.

I also filled the .40 S&W caliber marking on my barrel. Next is to get some white paint and fill the markings on my mags, to make the round count and caliber stand out.

Here are some pics.

I think you did a fantastic job on the paint. Very professional looking.

I must add that I don't get it though. Different strokes for different folks, but I don't see the draw to highlighting the lettering.

I was mainly after tying in the FDE contrasting color w/ the backstrap. It was an intermediate step to see if I like it enough before deciding to cerekote the slide in FDE.

In which case, would you fill all engravings in contrasting black?

Pretty cool! If those DPD trade ins were 9mm I would have bought one. Nice work with the paint.

If you didn't already you should post in the picture thread.

That 2 tone isn't my cup of tea, but I know the black and FDE is popular, and I think it's a good idea with the lettering to tie it together.

Looks good. Could you have used a razor blade to remove the excess paint?

I have read you could...I just didn't try it. It came off simple enough with the nail polish remover and lightly wiping.
