Default how hard is it to change sights on a shield

Well i found a new shield called my LGS they had a 9mm in stock and went and got it. Question is how hard is it to change the stock sights out for some Meprolight Night Sights? I have the meprolight sights on all of my firearms and really like them so i beileve in using what you are used to.

I have an Ameriglo Pro I-Dot on my front sight and an Ameriglo single dot on my rear sight. The front sight was pretty easy for me to change out with a hammer and a punch but even after I was able to loosen the screw in my rear sight, I still couldn't budge it was the hammer and punch. So I had to take it into my local Gunsmith to remove the stock sight and instal my new rear night sight.

I just got a set of those Ameriglo Pro I-Dot sights for my 40c and really like them. They were a piece of cake to change out on mine. I could almost get the rear off with my finger after I got the screw loose. The front knocked right out with a brass punch and small hammer. It really helps to have a solid bench vise with padded jaws.

I just put TFOs on mine. You will need a vice. I used brass punch and hammer. With the shortage of ammo now I don't wanna use it to sight it in now..lol

Best $30 investment I made when I paid a gun smith to install my XS Big Dot on my Shield. The sights are warrantied if they loosen or fall off which happened to me twice with a Kahr CM9

The only reason I was able to get my money back on my Kahr was they installed the night sights which kept breaking off. Had I tried to save a buck and installed the sights myself I would have been stuck with a gun and broken sights.

Paying Kahr $40 in labor in the end netted me a check for $550 (cost of firearm plus night sights, note, Kahr ate two front sights, labor plus shipping both ways twice and the gun to boot)

$40 labor which I ultimately was refunded by Kahr ended up being a pretty big bargaining chip.

Kahr to try and keep me happy offered me my choice of firearms including a PM9 all black with night sights for cost which at the time was $400. (Retail was $800 +)

I should have taken the sales reps offer but I had such a bad taste in my mouth I took the money and purchased a Nano which only opened a whole new can of worms.

Thank goodness Cabela's bailed me out of that nightmare and traded me straight across for my Shield 9mm.

The only reason I share my gun story is to point out the fact had I been too cheap to pay Kahr $40 labor (dinner for 3 at Apple bees) I don't think I would be enjoying my Shield today.

Most sets of sights, especially front sights will require some fitting. A metal file and some red locktite should do. I prefer a gunsmith.

Will a punch with nylon tip work? I got one of those when I did my last sight change on my Glock. A little filing and that went in fine.

Mine were tight.. It took a steel punch to get the rear sight off.. If you have a gun vise (you should) and a few punches (you should) it's not a big deal.. Still if I only had the one pistol and didn't work on anything else, I'd probably pay someone to do it.. JMO.. Ron

I had Trijicon Night Sights put on my Shield at a LGS. The front sight needed to be filed to get it to fit. Definitely not something I would have wanted to attempt.
