I recently got a 40c from my brother. He purchased it new at a gun show in Atlanta. It has a SKU# of 109203, which means it has a mag safety, no internal lock, & no thumb safety. But the 2011 S&W catalog says this combo is only sold in Ca. A SKU# 106303 has only a thumb safety, & a SKU# 120075 has no safeties. A SKU# 109253 also has a mag safety only, but a 10 lb trigger. It's sold in Mass. So why would a gun with a mag safety made for Ca be sold in Atlanta? The nice thing is the lack of the billboard warning on the right side of the slide. It doesn't really bother me the gun has the mag safety, but are there factory parts that can be installed to get rid of it? Anybody else with this strange combo? GARY

That's correct, it's the CA compliant model. It's not a strange combo, as it's listed that way in the S&W model lineup. Why it would be in Atlanta? Probably because the gun shop ordered it that way, I'd guess. AS far as removing the mag safety, check out this video.

Thanks. At the LGS where I work, we get numerous calls every day from the major gun distributors. Hey we've got 3 xyz guns. Do you want them? If we need them, we'll say yes. The distributor probably had a surplus of Ca guns, & the Ca dealers had all they needed, so they were sold to stores in other states to get rid of them w/o telling the stores they were Ca models. I know when we buy them, we never ask for the SKU#. We just take whatever variant we can get. GARY
