Spoke to Ilean who told me I needed to install a different longer spring on the ram, I did and still no go called her back today she told me to watch the apex deak video the 18 min video at the 9 min. Point and I did, dose not seem to be the same problem so I would like to get some feed back from you guys before I go there...

Carlos:

Just for fun (? ), pop the RAM out of the gun and see if that changes anything.

The RAM shouldn't affect anything unless there are other serious problems in the gun.

However, if it's not properly installed, the gun's not going to behave all that well.... The RAM is supposed to grab the rear end of the trigger bar and pull it towards the centerline when it's not being moved by way of the cam surface on the underside of the slide. If you install the trigger bar improperly, the gun shouldn't fire.

All the RAM actually does is help the trigger bar get back into place for the next shot, whether or not the trigger spring is present, but you could assemble it incorrectly. The tip of the trigger bar should ride inside the notch on the end of the RAM. That it makes a bit of noise (in some cases) to announce a reset, is really almost a coincidence, but don't tell Apex I said that ....

Another issue - did you install the new Drop Safety (can't remember what Apex calls it)? If that's not done properly, the drop safety plunger may be holding the striker back a bit, causing light strikes, or no strike at all.

Maybe one of those?

I had a buddy with a Llama Firestar (.40S&W) that would only fire some handloads that a club member was making. "Factory" loads, including my "you bought WHAT?!" reloads, wouldn't fire.

Turned out that the drop safety system in that gun was out of time, and the firing pin was hitting the bar while trying to fire. This raised a divot on the bottom of the bar that held back the firing pin - not completely, but enough to cause issues with hard primers.

Anyway, Carlos, have a look at the location of the trigger bar inside the notch in the RAM, and see if you can figure out whether the drop safety is installed properly. It should move easily.

Scott or Randy probably can toss some more suggestions out. I think Scott hangs around here.

Regards,

Carlos:

Just found this: Striker block washer regarding the drop safety spring and it's little cover plate. Might be useful information for you.

I had an issue when I installed my kit too!
When you dry fire does it take a few pulls before the striker it's released? I had bent the trigger bar sear engagement a bit during the install. Once I flattened it back out all was good.

My guess would be the trigger cam for the sear is engaging the sear before the blocker cam on the trigger causing the striker to be released before the blocker is fully disengaged slowing the striker leading to a light strike.

You might have to open up the trigger bar loop that makes contact with the sear. On the video I believe he mentions this and he has a feeler gauge.

You might want to take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

This is probably the right advice in this situation.

It doesn't sound like it's a problem with the Apex kit. Based on what the OP said, the sear is releasing the striker, but the striker is making light primer strikes.

Light primer strikes are usually due to dirt/debris in the striker channel.

closone,
Did you take the striker out for some reason?

without knowing which M&P it could be several things. Did you forget the spring under the sear? Maybe your trigger bar needs adjusting-Maybe your trigger bar is inserted under the sear wrong. All these things are possible. It's a really simple process if you look at how Smith had it together in the first place. It sounds like you didn't look at that aspect. It's possible your trigger bar needs adjusting. One of the videos addresses this issue on certain M&P's. Can you take a picture?

If you installed the Apex AEK trigger, then you might need to adjust the trigger bar loop, in this video: AEK Install - YouTube, he mentions it at the 7:05 mark and shows you later on in the video. If it is just light primer strikes, than it has to be something different.

Almost always, the spring and cover for the USB are not seated properly. Slide your rear sight back and check that the spring is straight and that the cover is seated easy fix.
Hope this helps.
