Many of my local gun stores won't ship, and I think it's easy to understand why. Basically everything more interesting than bronze brushes is allocated or completely unavailable. When they do get new inventory, they want to sell it to people who've been customers before and will be customers after the madness ends.

If you've got a 10# trigger, then you must have the MA compliance version. Not surprising since you purchased it from a store in MA. The standard trigger is about 6.5# with a ~.22" reset.

Have you tried D&L?
D&L Hunting & Outdoor Lodge - Firearms & Firearms Accessories
I called this past Monday and purchased my 40. They will ship and had several left at the time. Not sure if they still have any but it won't hurt to call.

Got lucky and found a Shield 9mm today at the Dixieland Gun Show in Charlotte, NC. Got there early and went straight to a table for Randy's Pawn and Gun that I saw one at in December and someone else got it. I definitely overpaid, but I was thrilled to get it in my hand today. I will definitely become my primary CC weapon of choice.

Smith and Wesson shield in stock

Maybe someone can correct me but do gun shops pay close to the same amount to the distributors for their inventory? If that is the case I find it pretty lousy that they are selling Shields for 80 dollars over MSRP. I paid 410 and 450 for my Shields. I can almost accept a private seller trying to get as much as he can but a decent sized shop like them?
Maybe I'm wrong and if so maybe someone who knows more about dealer pricing can shed on light on this

Has anyone that ordered from D&L receive their shield yet? If so, can you confirm its not of the MA or CA compliant variety?
I called up and ordered a regular shield 9 last Monday and haven't seen or heard anything yet. Calling them is futile since I get the busy signal every time I try. Sent an inquiry through their website last Wednesday and haven't heard back on that either.

I honestly don't blame them. Supply and demand. The demand is very high and the supply is very low. Thus the price is going to go up. I'm actually very proud of several dealers who have not raised their prices accordinly, but I definatlly don't blame those that do.

I paid MSRP for one of mine and a slight premium for the other. Both were voluntary transactions. I may (or may not) remember that I paid above MSRP for one of them down the road. In real life...it wasn't a lot of money, I've wasted more and gotten less for it lots of times...I have no complaints.

Oh I agree the demand is high and supply low but sorry..reeks of gouging...especially if all dealers are paying the same price for their Shields. Obviously my LGS is still making money by selling them at 410 dollars. The most I've seen them in my area is MSRP

I can't say I blame dealers for gouging either. I talked to the owner of our LGS and his shelves are nearly bare and he has no idea when he will be able to get ammo or firearms. Yes, he made good money for a couple of months, but now he is looking at lean times, especially when his suppliers won't even take any orders.

I just talked with them and unfortunatlly all of last weeks purchases didn't ship until today. I asked if I could get the tracking number but they were super busy and said that they couldn't get to it right then. They did tell me that they all went out Priority Mail so you could estimate your delivery using this site.

My ffl dealer got my Shield on 2-18 from D&L (shipped on 2-12). I picked it up today and managed to fire a few rounds before dark. I believe it is not the MA or CA compliant version. The trigger pull is great - shorter and not as stiff as my buddy's LC9. Now I need to find some more ammo...

if the model number is 180021 it is the regular version,I think the MA model is 180051.

Which site?
Talked to Shoot Straight out of Florida and apparently if they get them in its not worth there while to ship out of state, so you have to be in store to purchase from them now

FGE in Ormond Beach Florida just got a bunch of 9mm Shields in stock. I used to work for Shoot Straight, & they don't do mail order. Just FTF sales. However, Shoot Straight which is a chain of 6 stores, & PBSS which is just 1 store both pay $325 for a Shield. GARY

Just got back from the Sporting goods store with a Sheild 40 in my hand, that made my day. I have been looking for one of these for a couple months, even purchased a M&P 40 compact, and a Kahr MK40 to carry. Looks like I might have to sell one of those, really don't need three smaller 40's. I bet I end up selling the Kahr, the 40 compact is one of my favorite firearms after the trigger job and some Meprolight night sites. But then again the Kahr is an all stainless pistol that will proberbly last a lifetime, and is definately a quality pistol.

Smith and Wesson shield in stock
Vance's sporting goods is the best gun store in Central Ohio at the moment. The local Gander just switched to a gun store and Cabela's is set to open in two weeks. Should be plenty availability and competition soon.

Yeah that's the price the first guy I talked to told me, then when he had to check with the manager to see what shipping would be the manager got on the phone and said "599 plus transfer fee and 100 shipping, take it or leave it"

Smith and Wesson shield in stock
I just placed an order at my LGS. They have a special order coming sometime in the not too distant future. $420 + tax. I'm willing to wait a couple months at that price. My first S&W.

I called them as well, but they were "out" on Monday, so I didn't ask about the transfer.
Before that I also spoke to FGE in Ormond Beach, FL. The guy was nice and basically told me that normally they do ship, but due to demand of this and the XDS, it's not fair to their local customers. I don't have a problem with that as they have a B&M.
Given the gouging and fairness issue, I will continue to call locally and check Buds instead of other LGS out of state. Gonna have to rely on my .380 for now.

Has anyone ever dealt with Clarke Arms in CT? I purchased a Shield 9 on Sept 20 2012 and still have not received it. They will not answer the phone and will not reply to email.

I did receive my UTS-15 from them 6 weeks after the order and that was about the last time I have heard from them. Currently their website is down. I might have to call the bank and see if they can retrieve my money. I would rather have the shield though.

Looking for 9MM
Greetings folks,
Sold my .380, looking to replace it with a 9mm Shield. None available. Tried to get one through the LE program, even still. Nada except Gunbroker with a super premium. Like my M&P Compact, but really need the Shield size. If anyone has a find, please post. Tnx.

They had a 9mm version at the academy here in Waco but it went up to $450 from $400 so it went from instant buy to nah... I'd rather have the 40 if I am going to pay that...

Thanks, vinegaroons.
Just ordered the 9mm for $429 + $25 ship + $15 FFL fee. D&L seem like a bunch of nice guys to deal business with. Very courteous.

$429? I must have misheard him, EVEN BETTER! ;] I paid $25 for my FFL. Oh yeah, good people for sure. Also they are getting a lot of these shields for some reason but the more the better. I'm kinda contemplating calling them back and ordering a 40 just to see how they feel..

Was just told $429 over the phone by a rep at D&L for the Shield 9, and he said he had 50 in stock!! I called my LGS about doing the transfer, and he is going to be getting 2 on Wednesday for $459, so I'll just buy local. They both come to about the same price when you calculate shipping and transfer fee.
Hopefully this will help someone out looking for a Shield.

Good store with good people..its only a few miles down the road from me.
I was told their lead time on Shields (9mm) was only 2-3 weeks so I went ahead and put my name on the list.
This was back on 1/29...so it's been a little more than 3 weeks..but I'm being patient
