Default Brand New M&P40 & Range Time

Is it safe to go through some range time prior to cleaning a brand new M&P40, or does it need to be cleaned first?

We shot about a hundred through my wife's new S&W M&P 40 on Saturday, so I would say yes, it's safe.

By all means shoot then clean. Or clean than shoot. The most important thing is to shoot safely and have a safe and clean weapon

Just saw an M&P ad in a magazine over the weekend. The headline(as I remember it):
"The break in period ends when you pick it up"
So I would just go out and enjoy!

If the M&P passed the extensive torture tests I read about by LEOs, then I would hope it it could be fired out of the box at the range without any major issues.

But it never hurts to properly clean and lube it beforehand.
