Default M & P 22 Takedown Lever Help!

Hey guys, after a shooting trip this weekend, I was cleaning the 22 pistol and I broke the take down lever tab with my thumb. Wow, Can't believe it broke so easily. Once you turn the lever to the 6 o'clock position, you have to pull it out about a 1/2 inch to strip the pistol. I have never pulled the lever completely out of the gun, but was able to do it and get it cleaned. Got off the phone this morning with S & W and they are sending me a new take down lever. My question to the community is do you guys have any tips for getting the lever back in the gun. The manual says to put the tab at 9:00 o'clock and at a 45 degree angle. I am having trouble picturing this in my mind. I did not try to put the broken lever back in and will be inserting the new one when I get it in the mail in a week. Just thought I would inquire from some of you more experienced M & P 22 shooters who have completely taken the lever out of the gun. Can you describe how to put it back in. I checked out all u-tube video's, but none of them remove the lever further than the 1/2 inch necessary to clean. My lever was tight and it was difficult to pull it out the 1/2 inch. Can't believe I snapped a piece of metal with my thumb.
Anyway, thanks in advance and I am just trying to figure out how to put it back in when it arrives

Not to worry, its not broken. It goes back in. I did the same thing. I am not home right now to post pics, but just wanted to reassure you that everything is ok. Dropped the takedown lever once, so now I just pull it out all the way off, when I clean the gun. so as not to lose it.

Bummer your lever broke. Lay off the spinach, you don't know your own strength.

It's easy to put the lever back in the frame. There is really only one way it will go in, at an angle so it fits in the hole. Piece of cake.

Like you broke the tab off? Otherwise, you just kind of angle it in there and wiggle it around without the guide rod in there and it should slip in.

Thanks all! yes, the tab completely broke! That makes it hard to turn it, so I did not put the broken one back in. It was just like a "cheap piece of pot metal" They are sending me a new lever, but I have never had the need to insert the lever because I had never removed it all the way before.
I think I see what you are saying tinn-can. Just remove the guide rod, put the lever in and then bring it back out to the 1/2 way point and turn it down. Then reinsert the guide rod and should be good to go.

Got it, I understand now. Gonna check mine, you've got me wondering how strong it is or isn't.

Hope this helps:

By the way, I rec'd my M&P 22 last week and I noticed the lever was quite resistant to pulling out the required distance for field stripping. I started to wiggle it along with slight pulling pressure
once I noticed the lever flexing. I was afraid of doing just what happend to you. I suspose it will loosen up some with use.

Thanks for that video Bolton! Had seen is previously, but did not recall he completely removed the lever. I think I am set! Just waiting for the mailman to bring me the lever.
