Default Shield 9mm at a Sig Course

I recently attend a Sig Steel Frenzy Course (700 +) rounds Mostly using my G19, Almost all stages were a high round count stage where a 15 round magazine was needed.
However there were a few stages where a "Low" capacity" gun would do.
I use my Shield 9mm for these stages (with magguts)
I must admit that shield held its own with my G19 and several other Hi Capacity guns. That shield was accurate and reliable and had no problem mowing down steel plates at 10 15 and 20 yds. Again this course was mostly geared to Hi Cap guns Several H&K's a lot of Sigs, I was the only one shooting a Glock 19 and a shield. I was very impressed with he Shield and its ability to hold its own and compete against the hi cap guns.

What I see here is that you were able to effectively use a short gun and compete with longer barrelled ones. Great for the Shield, but great for you, too!

I was gonna give my Shield a try this last winter at the Rio Salada range in Arizona.... but was turned away on the Thursday night Steel challenge cuz they had a rule barring " small defensive pistols " . I was surprised, although I had noted that this range didn't have IDPA matches and frowned on IDPA in general. They are proponents of " race guns " apparently.
No big deal, but it looked like a fun evening match. They had a barrel length rule which the Shield was of course too short to qualify.

I knew I would take a hit on capacity, but for fun that doesn't really matter all that much to me. I was unaware of the "size " rules at some ranges.

It can be embarrassing to race gunners and their zillion dollar jewels when some guy walks in with a box stock compact (or smaller) and keeps up with 'em.
