Default Shield Apex SCK trigger kit

I liked the stock trigger but it was a little heavy for me and wasn't shooting it as well as I liked. Also as many have stated it was gritty and not the best break. I contiplated getting the Apex kit and bought it. Even after that it sat on my desk for 3 weeks as I still wasn't sure if it was worth it. I had switched out the trigger on my AR-15 and it made a world of difference so I decided why not worth a try.... and I am VERY glad I did. The take up is smooth, the trigger pull is reduced, and the break is clean. I was able to reduce my groups drastically too. The install was easy, just watch the videos and you should be fine. I used both my steel and brass punches. The hardest part was getting my rear sight off. I ended up taking a large brass punch and ground one side down so there was a flat surface and therefor more contact with the sight. I then put tape both on the sight and the punch and put the slide in a vise with a soft material as protection from the vise.

The picture is 8 rounds at 7 yards, semi-rapid fire. With this set up I know I could get a smaller group with a slower fire rate.

Good job. I too am not too crazy about the stock trigger on my 9mm Shield and just may give the Apex a try. Thanks for posting.

I pulled mine apart the other day and polished the bore for the striker safety because it had the gritty trigger everyone talks about. Also polished the trigger bar and that really helped with my accuracy.

Seeing how much of a difference it made just doing that, this is going to be my next upgrade.

You can also polish the sear face and mating striker face, which will help smooth out the pull.

Very short video showing my Shield 40 with an Apex sear and Apex striker blocker. I did not install the Apex trigger springs. This video shows the over travel stop I molded into the rear of the trigger. There is 3/8 inch take-up until I reach the sear. Then about 1/16 inch sear pull, break, and 1/16 inch reset.
