Default Purchasing an M&P 40 at S&W factory store

I'm a total newb here so forgive me. Been contacting local gun stores in Vermont trying to find a full size M&P 40 (ideally the carry and range kit). But the stores Ive spoken with are out of stock and say their distributors are out, with no idea when they'll get any M&Ps back. Since I'm in Vermont, I'm wondering if I could just make the trip down to Springfield, Mass. and make the purchase at the factory. Anyone done this? Know of a phone number for them?

Have you tried searching and calling authorized S&W stores within your zip code? You can find them listed on the S&W website. Not all stores have a web presence. This is how I found my new 617 revolver locally. Good luck with your search.

I have called 4 stores, most focus on hunting rifles, not a lot of LGS in my area. I'll keep up the contacts, but wondering if the factory store might be worth a trip.

If I'm not mistaken you can only legally buy a gun in the state you are a resident.

I live in MA and called them earlier this year and was told that the factory store, which used to sell S&W guns, no longer does any gun sales. They couldn't sell to a non-MA resident in any case, the sale would have to go through a VT FFL.

When I was looking for a range and carry kit, I called S&W and they told me what distributors had one....then had my local gun shop call the distributor and order from them...I"ve had it about a year now and paid $500 for the kit. I wished I woulda bought 2 of them cause my recent M&P 40 cost me $489 for just the gun alone. Good Luck with finding one.

You are mistaken, but not a lot.

You can only buy a handgun in the state in which you reside unless you're on active duty and even then you must be stationed in the state.

Count your blessings.

I saw an M&P 40 go for $569 (gun and two mags) not too long ago. They're selling for $705 now, but I was told at the shop that they are no longer available and that all distributors are out. This is a S&W performance shop, not just my local FFL ( who hasn't been able to get one in since late December! ).

Save your gas..the S&W store is no longer in business. I took a ride by the place when I was out at Westover and it is all shut down. I guess they had some sort of incident out at the range there and have been closed down since..(May of 2012??) In any event the rent a cop kid watching the place said it was not going to open again. Too bad because it looked like a decent building...the neighborhood it is in is sketchy though.....

The main S&W plant is close by. Talk about a depressing looking place lol It is absolutely massive behind big iron fences....sorta creepy looking

Too bad they are closed...Sig Sauer Academy Pro Shop is about 40 minutes from my place and that place is beautiful.....the whole facility is stunning.
