Default Stippled my Shield 9

I had researched a lot having never done this before and didn't like the large stipples many use. I thought it looked odd and ruined the look of the gun quite frankly. And using a fine tip on the soldering iron this worked out well for me, it feels like sandpaper which is what I wanted. I also tried to keep my lines straight so it wouldn't be so random. So on the front and back grip areas I stippled horizontal, while in between the grips I did slightly angled (with the frame) vertical lines. I also stippled on the bottom of the trigger guard. Here she is:

Looks real good! How does it help with the draw/grip?

I had mine done by a guy here in MA. It helps quite a bit on the grip and as the OP says, it's more like a sandpaper feel that grips just right. Here's a pic:

I don't know if it helps/hinders my draw that much. Because it isn't as smooth, I'd say it helps me notice it more on the draw. I have yet to shoot it, but I am somewhat confident that it will indeed improve the grip. At least it does on dry fire practice it feels like it will improve my grip.

The only way to do it, the way I did with so many little stipples, is to take your time and take breaks. I also sandpapered the front and back grips down so that they were more smooth than they were. So that it wouldn't look odd.

I did the front and back grips because while they have some various contour, they are still smooth and thus slippery.
