Default M&P Reassembly: Lever Stuck

I didn't pay attention to the take-down lever as I reassembled my M&P9, and the lever partially closed against the slide stop notch. Now the slide won't move and the lever won't close. Help!

So far, I've resisted the urge to force the slide or the take-down lever. Thoughts? I searched this forum and found warnings about this, but didn't see a solution.

The sear deactivation lever is in the down position.

Thanks.

If this picture is what you are talking about, as the actual location of the TDL, you will just have to push the lever forward until it is pointing down. This is what happens when the TDL doesn't stay down like it should... but there are a few guys that say this can't happen.. it does and it doesn't have to. Just exert the force to get it done. But if you can't gauge the force necessary, don't do it.. give it to a smith. Let us know what happens.

Yes, the photo shows the position it's stuck in.

Had one slip on me this morning="ain't no thang!"

Take the pressure off the slide, push the lever open (down) and start over.

Alright, got it done. Crisis over.

The lever REFUSED to move, so I used something to lightly tap it down a bit, then pushed it the rest of the way down.

I wasn't sure if I should be moving it up or down at the point it was stuck. You cleared that up for me; thanks guys.

Show's over now. Nothing to see. Move along.

A trick is to move the guide rod up / down. This relieves pressure on the internals of this switch. Don't force the guide rod, just a bit of wiggle.

I have also used a toothbrush as a lever to move the take down lever - just to get the better grip.
