Default Trigger Pull MA Compliant Shield

What's up everyone? I'm hearing conflicting things about the pull on the MA compliant Shields. I have a deposit down on one and am waiting for it to come in. I've read that the pull is at 10.5lbs and have read elsewhere that it's 6.5lbs. Does anyone own one and know what the pull really is? Thanks!!

I'm pretty sure that 6- 6.5lb is the normal versions pull. At least thats about what mine feels like. According to the S&W web site the Mass compliant has a 10.5lb trigger pull more or less

Massachusetts requires the pull to be over 10 pounds, I believe.

Same sort of stupidity you hear from these unfortunate police administrators. They are more concerned about negligent discharge than about stopping crime or innocent bystanders. Recall how many private citizens got shot by the police the day NYPD unleashed on that guy over at the Empire State Building? The police administrators say that if you have a heavier trigger pull, you won't unintentionally shoot the pistol. Unfortunately, it seems no amount of training can teach these cops how to hit anything with a NY+ trigger in their Glocks.

Or, in the case of a non-sworn consumer, the politicians say that perhaps your child won't be strong enough to pull the trigger and kill her little friend if you have a heavy pull.

But, you ask your friendly politician: "Doesn't that make it harder to shoot?"

Answer: "Well, yes comrade, but according to the anti-gun people your gun is more likely to harm someone who lives or visits in your home. Quite frankly, if you do need to shoot, chances are MUCH better you will miss the poor criminal who grew up in a bad home with an abusive mother - we don't believe in shooting violent felons who are trying to kill you anyway. And, maybe you will pull your shot, kill or injure an innocent bystander who will sue you and we will have one less gun owner and lots more press on our side. So, a heavy trigger is a win-win for those of us opposed to the exercise of the right of self-defense and the right to bear arms."

You: "Uh huh. What about innocent bystanders who may be hit because the heavy trigger results in wild shots?"

Politician: "Casualty of OUR war on YOUR civil rights. Can't be helped. But, we will hold a fundraiser and have a candle light vigil where we will make speeches about protecting the children."

Are you allowed to modify the trigger? What do competitive shooters do in MA?
Not sure if we're allowed to modify. I'm a gun newbie and don't know much about what MA allows us to do. Guess I'd better start reading up on it. Thanks!

Mine is MA compliant - it is certainly over 10 lbs. Getting mine worked on soon though. However, I am not a MA resident so I can't comment on legality. I think it is fine for MA residents to modify the pull but I am not 100% sure.

It has to be MA compliant to be sold in MA. Says nothing about after it is sold. I have a MA compliant 40FS that came with a 10+ lbs trigger, it no longer is.

In MA you just need to purchase the firearm with the compliant 10 pound trigger pull. After the gun is in your ownership however, you can alter that trigger however you'd like. My mp9c pull was 10lbs now it's about 5.5

Sounds like you need to get a hold of an Apex trigger kit and a gunsmith.. If you ever get off that shield waiting list that is

It can legally be modified with an Apex kit (or with factory springs).

I bought the MA compliant Shield and live in MA. Immediately installed the APEX Carry Kit to make the trigger pull acceptable. It's a great gun once you do the trigger.

Not a lawyer but it is common practice for MA gun owners to modify their trigger. I've never heard of any legal problem caused by doing this. It's just a trigger job.

Thanks for the info! INWAS worried I'd have to keep that pull, that would suck! I'll definitely have to look into that Apex kit. The trigger pull mod will be a must!!

BTW, there's a great shop that will do the trigger for you at less than the APEX kit. If you're near Peabody get in touch with Lou at Business End Customs. He has a great reputation for his work. Here's a link: Custom 1911-Glock- M&P's

What is the trigger pull of a 3913?

I can't imagine the double action is any less than 8-10 lbs. Or a model 60 for that matter.

The issue with these triggers is that they are NOT good revolver triggers and the guns are low weight.

I never had any accuracy issues with my S&W revolvers due to trigger weight.

My opinion is that 6 lb triggers with poor resets are worse then heavier double action ones which are like revolvers.

If you WORK at learning to shoot the gun I believe it will shoot well.

I don't think the accuracy of a poor low weight trigger which will get Apex-ed anyway is the issue. It is being a lousy shot with the trigger.

I shoot Kahr's, S&W 3913 and revolvers. The heavier double action actually is MORE conducive to good shooting than the spongy resetless Kahr.

A glock 19 is good if you practice and people use the reset and increased weight as a indicator in firing.

I can get equivalent accuracy out of them all, however, I don't get the same speed or similar accuracies at the same speeds out of these systems.

I have been toying with buying a Mass compliant Shield to see if I 'like' it better as a revolver like auto.
