WHO HAS CHANGED SIGHTS ON M&P22
How many of you have changed the sights on your M&P22 and what is the verdict on them. The only ones that I have seen that are specifically made for the M&P22 are the Dawson Precision front and rear. I've seen one member with this setup, has anyone else used these sights and what do you think of them. If there are any other sights made specifically for the M&P22, I would like to know. Have some extra money to spend on it, but it is such a great gun, the sights are the only thing that I can think of to upgrade. I've already bought extra mags and rubber texture grips and of course, lots of ammo. Thanks.

I've gone through the trouble of installing the same sights I use on my centerfire M&Ps. In the end, it worked out real well, but to be honest it was a real pain to get the front sight to work due to the non-tapered dovetails on the M&P22.
In my humble opinion, you are better off if you get sights as a set that are made specifically for the M&P22. I've heard good things about the Dawson Precision sights.

I put the Dawson Precision sights on my wife's M&P 22. We both like them much better than the original sights.
I did not have any difficulty removing the original sights or installing the new ones.

I knew from experience with a rental that I did not like the blacked out rear stock sight, and bought the paired Dawson Precision sights as soon as I purchased my M&P22.
I am quite happy with them so far. Dawson also guarantees that the elevation will be correct, or they will replace your front blade for free.

Advantage Tactical sights are available
I have sets of advantage Tactical on my M&P 45 full size and Compact; M&P 40; M&P Shield and M&P 22. they're the fastest aquisition sights I've ever shot. An they work in all light conditions (even very low lite except pitch black). The Nov./ Dec. issue of American Handgunner has an add for them on pg.107. Try [ http://www.americanhandgunner.com/ad...tactical-sight.

Hi, can you post some pics of the sight picture and how the sights look on your M&P for the Dawson and Advantage Tactical. There are probably alot of us here with M&P22's looking for a solution. Thanks

What height did you get, I noticed on the Dawson site that they have two front sight heights 160 and 180. Which one worked for you with their rear sight. I think I found the answer, on their site on the info for their rear sight, it says it matches with their 160 height front sight. Is this what you have. Thanks, Jesse.

I installed the Truglo TFO Tritium+fiber optic sights on my M&P22. The rear sight dropped right in, took 30 seconds. The front sight required a lot of grinding and filing to get it to fit the dovetail correctly. Definitely a lot more work than I had hoped for. That said I love the results. The elevation is right-on. I have attached a few pics; I hope they help.
(Edit) The Truglo TFO sights are for the M&P line in general, not the M&P22 in particular.

Sight picture looks nice, Laird. Is the TFO rear sight adjustable?

Dawson Precision sights, fit well, 5 minute install. not the biggest and brightest fiber optics I've seen but so much better than what they replaced. happy with them overall.

The rear sight is fixed; it has a set screw to lock it in place but no elevation adjustment screw. There is enough of a gap between the rear sight and the frame to slide 3 pieces of paper, so there's plenty of room to grind the sight lip to raise or lower the point of impact.

I must admit, these sights are interesting... I use XS Big Dot on my SA 1911 for Steel Matches.. I would be very interested in hearing MORE about your experiences. I didn't see to many u-tubes.
Thanks

What distance are people sighting in at??
I've been to the range twice now and can not get the stock sights adjusted properly...shooting to high at 10-15 yards..
I dont think the adjustment screw is lowering the blade enough...I can still push the blade down but it wont screw down any lower..
I have the 9fs rear dots on order hoping maybe this will get me where i want to be at..
I love the gun and its has shot 100% with CCI's but its becoming frustrating...maybe I'm expecting to much from the gun/sights after coming from a 22A target

M&P45 rears work on M&P22?
Hi all and Merry Christmas
Newcomer to the forum, first post
I just upgraded to nightsites on my M&P45- can I install my removed rear sites off my M&P45 onto my soon to be picked up M&P22?
Thanks all!

I thought about the same thing. I am curious what the response is. The only thing I can think of that would can being able to do it is there is no elevation control that I am aware of on the regular stock M&P rear sight. Perhaps it is just shimmed if it needs any adjustment? Not real sure. I had Trijicon's put on my M&P40c, the stock sights are in a box collecting dust. If the rear works on the M&P22 I'll move it on over too

When I switched to night sites on my M&P9c I moved the stock 9c sights to my M&P22. The only word of caution is that the M&P22 slide is aluminum so you do need to be a bit careful. However, at least in my case, they did go on w/o too much trouble.

Just got the Dawson fiber optic front site for the M&P22. Love it. Was easy to install and is right on.
I still have the stock rear site for now.

If I keep the stock rear sight, which Dawson front height should I get for a center hold sight picture? Thanks!

I installed Novak FO sights on my M&P9c, but before ordering any for my M&P22, I thought I'd try flourescent red jig paint on the front and flourescent green jig paint on the rear. It worked out so well, that I'm leaving it the way it is. I did have to put a white base under the rear one to make it bright. The front one was or course, already white. Just clean them real good before doing it. Used a sharpened toothpick under a lighted magnifyer. Keep in mind, in the photo, it's over three times bigger than looking at the gun, so you really can't see the rough edges on the rear sight.

The stock front sight is .160, but I found I had to adjust my rear sight down all the way, to get POA at 25 yards, using CCI-Mini-Mags. The .180 would allow a little upward adjustment.
When I installed FO sights on my M&P9c, I had to go with a .180 front sight to get POA also.

Maybe I'm missing something but all of my stock center fire m&p front sights are way way too loose for the mp22. In fact, even the Hiviz and Truglo TFOs I have for the regular m&ps just slide right out of the front dovetail on the 22 slide. The rears are loose as well but the setscrew tightens that up OK but there is no way I can use any of my m&p front sights on the mp 22. I don't get it....I see where everyone is doing a lot of filing and sanding to make the stock fronts fit but my mp22 is just the opposite. Did Smith make a change to the dovetail I'm not aware of? I just picked this 22 up a couple weeks ago, brand new. Any ideas?

I wasn't aware DP made replacement front AND rear sights for the M&P 22. I'm going to call and put in an order!

I installed the Dawson front and rear M&P 22 sights. The install was a breeze, maybe 5 minutes. One or two swipes with a file. I bought the .180 front (DP recommends the .160) but my gun was shooting high at 50'.
Haven't had the chance to shoot it since, sorry. But here's pics:

I ended up installing a Dawson FO rear sight in green and a red Dawson FO front sight .180 tall, but it was shooting 3-4 inches low at 25 yards. Installed a .160 FO front sight and it now shoots dead on.

The Dawson's are awesome. Rear is fixed. I like them. Poor eyesight up close and I can pick up the red front quickly!

Ordered my Dawson's last night .. FO front and plain black serrated rear. This combo should match the 10-8's I have on my IDPA gun nicely
