Hi all,
Just took delivery of my shield 9. I didn't think anything could point better than a glock 19, but it seems I've been proven wrong! It feels great, but the one issue I'm finding is my thin-ish fingers partially engage the safety on trigger pull, causing a crunchy trigger pull, as the safety catches, then breaks. This occurs every time with my natural trigger position. If I concentrate on pulling the very bottom of the trigger, I can bypass this...however I'm not especially eager on retraining my trigger finger for one pistol. Does anyone else have the same problem & how did you fix it?
Edit: Well after some searching it seems filing the safety catch or installing an apex kit seem to be the common solutions. I'm hesitant about either, since I feel like tampering with the safety is a good way to render it less than 100% functional...my concern about the apex kit is that it'll make the trigger too light for a carry gun. Is there any way to get apex kit parts that only fix the safety catch, but leave the trigger weight alone?
Thanks,
