Most LGS's have them in stock. I'd avoid 44mag and their prices. I used to like them but their prices have been awful lately.
Midway is your best bet for online purchases. Honest prices and no gouging

Don't hold your breath for the order to arrive quickly. I too ordered directly from S&W but have been waiting quite a while.

Shield 9mm mag
I've got a question about shield mags? I've got a Glock 27 and I use Glock 23 mags to extend my capacity. Is there any way to run full-size M&P mags on a shield?

Nope. Just compacts can accept the full size mags. The shield is single stack, the full size and compacts are double stack.

I ordered 4 extra 8rd mags when I got my Shield last April from my LGS. I got those last winter. I see they are slowly trickling out now.

I have seen these mags at several LGS in my area. I would say just look around a bit.
