Default Shield INCOG Holster

I just wanted to pass along some info and my initial impressions on the Shield INCOG holster. It is made by G-Code and designed in partnership with Haley Strategic.

For my IWB needs I have mainly been using the Comp-Tac MTAC holster. It is a great holster and super comfy. On other MTAC and CTAC models I have had issues with the clips breaking or coming unscrewed (even with generous amounts of loctite). Due to the leather backing, the retention on the holster isn't great, but does stay open for reholstering thanks to the kydex outer shell.

I decided to try the INCOG. I was very skeptical of the bent clips. I was convinced they would cause me pain. Surprising they actually make the holster really comfortable. The rear clip does get in the way of the draw slightly, but isn't a deal breaker. The clips feel sturdy and the two screw attachment point looks good. Retention is great and the draw is smooth. The holster is designed for appendix carry, but I only carry at 3:00. My physique just won't allow for appendix carry.

The main concern I have with the holster is the lack of coverage for the rear sight. The factory rear sight was sharp as hell and I eventually replaced it with an Ameriglo rear sight. The Ameriglo is slightly better, but can still be sharp at times. It seems to only be an issue when I put on my shoes.

excellant report.

I ordered one for a G17 and already past the 5 week mark on the wait.

how long did it take you to get yours?

did the shield version not come with the sweat shield option?

I too plan to carry from 3 to 4 oclock.

I know this may not be in your plans but a small file rounding off the portion that rides up against you may be your only option. just reblue or black the exposed metal.

I had a bit of a wait. I ordered on 3/8 and received on 4/24. It did come with the sweat guard, but it doesn't cover the rear sight.

A holster for my Glock 17 is my next purchase.
