Default M&P22: First round sticks up when loading; fix

I called S&W about the issue of the first round sticking up when loading a magazine with force, during slidelock, in an M&P22 and they gave me a fix that works:
Slightly pinch the feed lips at the front of where they grip the round only (I used a small vise grip). After pinching the mag, S&W say to use dummy rounds, but I don't have any and with the safety on and aimed in a safe direction, tested it. If you go too far, they won't load, but just enough and the top round doesn't pop up anymore. I have eight mags and they all now load perfectly with a hard insertion.

Are you slamming the magazine in? That happens when you do that on the M&P 22.

If you re-read my post, you'll see that I fixed the problem with the round popping up. I can now slam them in and it doesn't pop up anymore. I use this gun for non-sanctioned IDPA and you have to do fast reloads.

I read your post. You still don't need to slam your magazines in. I shoot idpa and I don't slam my magazines. no need for it.

I'll bet my way is faster, which shaves time off my scores. I usually place in the top third, against some pretty good shooters and you do that by being faster and more accurate. You do it your way, I'll do it mine.

That's funny, I was just out shooting (M&P22) today and noticed the same thing happening to one of my mags.

Same conclusion that I can up with, wasn't quite sure how to do it right.

Thank's for the info/post.
