Question New M&P Pro .40 5" barrel (178032)

Just purchase a new M&P Pro today ($607) and would like to know if I can do anything to the stock trigger to make it smoother. Not really interested in reducing trigger pull....just want it to be smoother.

Also, can anyone recommend a good sight pusher? The factory installed sights are completely put of alignment. The front is hanging off the right side and the rear is hanging off the left side.

I think that tool won't work for the 5" Pro's front sights.

I have a 5" Pro in 9mm. The test fire date is mid January 2013. It has the old style sear block. I added an Apex USB and RAM. Kept the stock sear and all the stock springs. I also polished the striker bar, sear, and USB. All of this reduced the pull slightly, and gave the trigger a very clean break and nice tactile reset. A few weeks later I added the Apex AEK trigger. This reduced the pre-travel and over-travel and made the trigger break even crisper. It's the closest trigger in a polymer gun to a 1911 I've ever felt.

I highly recommend all of these upgrades. If were going to do just one, it would be the Apex USB.

Your gun may or may not accept the Apex RAM. The frame needs to have the plug in the ILS hole.

Also, I have the MGW sight pusher. I have used it on my FS and Shield. MGW says it won't work on the Shield, but a little shim here and there and it worked fine. I suspect there's a way to make it work on the 5" slide, but I haven't tried it yet. It's a great tool. Got mine from Brownell's.

The rear sight on my Pro model moved very easily after loosening the screw. I just tapped it with a nylon mallet.

Nobody has any useful input on the trigger question?

There are pages and pages of trigger information on the forum. From do-it-yourself trigger work with pictures and videos, to Apex trigger part reviews and installation videos.

The M&P trigger has been literally talked to death.

If you do a search you will have more reading than you could ever want.

My guess is he just missed your suggestion. For the record, I agree with your suggestions.

As another possibility, take out the Striker Block and inspect the hole to ensure it's smooth.

Reread my initial post, focusing on the words "stock trigger". Did I say I wanted an aftermarket trigger?
