This is my first semi-auto so it might not be an issue.
In order to get the magazine to load I'm having to really slap it in with force. Even then it sometimes stops with about a quarter inch left to go. Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? I've watched several of the Shield videos of owners breaking down the gun and reassembling and none seem to be putting that much force to get a magazine to seat properly.
Another thread had the answer! It's normal until everything wears in a bit and the springs relax.
I was going to delete the post, but I'll leave it in case someone else has the same problem.
M&P 40 FS tight to load mag normal, nearly stops like yours. I just push it in with a thumb till it clicks, then check for lock by pulling down. Slips right in with slide back. I consider this acceptable on mine.
My Shield is brand new, too and I have the same situation. I say situation because it's not a problem. As stated above, the magazines will seat easier with time/use.
I have two Shields and same "issue" as well. Altough that does not bother me as much as when I rack the slide back, the slide does not return all the way back.
Of course doing it again will eject a round and most of the time the slide will return to normal position. I hope it gets better with time. I was only able to shoot about 30 rounds.
