Well... the OP hasn't visited our beloved forum in 3 years, but I still don't understand his comment about needing to throw a lot of money into an upgraded trigger for the Shield.

Mine is stock and it's just fine.

My Shield is a Performance Center model, I gave my "old" one to my son, there is a difference in the PC, the trigger is really smooth...and much better sights....(I could do with out the porting....I think that just "fluff") but it was bought on a rebate...so that part was "free")
And as far as "visiting" I just happen to be mostly on Glock Talk, but do visit just about all the "gun" M/B's), and have been shooting for over 70
seventyyears !!!

My Kahr is a CW-45. Recoil is not bad.
Quality is 100%.

Back in the day when this thread was started I bought a CW9. I was a Glock guy but wanted that smaller/lighter package. The Kahr is a nice pistol but with the trigger pull so long I never shot it well. Fast forward a few years later when S&W came out with the Shield 45. It was love at first bullseye.

I have a CW9 that I bought in 2013. I like it very much. I also have a Shield .45 Auto that I bought in late 2016. I like that very much to. I carry the Kahr because of Arthritis and Carpel Tunnel. They are both very accurate hand guns.

just curious.... can you name a single time that this happened?

not opinion, but an actual case?

Prosecutor: So your intent was to shoot the BG who threatened your well being using that upgraded trigger and laser?

Me: Yes, shooting him was my intent.

Could this be why there is more than one successful gun manufacturer? Many thanks to all of them for their diversity of products and for the progress they continue to make.

Default Well. After hearing that...

Well. After hearing that I might get a Kahr. I don't really have any complaints about the Shield though. It's small reliable, carryable and fun to shoot. It's a little thin, but that just makes it more concealable and doesn't make it much less comfortable to shoot. I'm pretty impressed with the Shield trigger. DAO gun but the trigger ALMOST feels like an SA. Just a little more travel. I like it.

I go to both extremes. Shield on one end and Keltec P-11 on the other end. Even the Kel tec is very small and reliable.

I have an older Shield 9mm. Just resently I shot my first IDPA BUG (backup gun) match and shot it clean. Hard to improve on that other than improving on time. Obviously, I like my Shield.

S&W Shield in 9mm

Thanks for looking at my Shield.

God bless,
Birdgun

That's how I figure the Kahr was $200 cheaper.

And, yes, considering what the Shields are going for nowadays (I've seen online auctions asking as much as $700 for them - no way I would pay that), I could sell it and make a profit...but I follow advice from Jeff Cooper I read a long time ago...I don't sell guns, because when you do the gun is gone and sooner than later so is the money you got for it.
My Shield was about $275 after rebate, and it has a better triger to ME than my CM9 which i also like alot.....

I have had 2 Kahr CW9s. I recently sold my 2nd one as part of a group sale to fund a couple of of other guns (Sig P365, EAA Witness 10mm). My CW9s were manufactured years apart. I never had a single problem with either, and all of my mags fit and functioned flawlessly. The trigger of the Kahr is the best in the industry as far as DAO pistols go, and I shot very well with either one. The only thing I did NOT like about the newer version, is that Kahr went to a pinned front sight at some point, which made it hard to swap in a tritium on the front. The older version used a screw to hold the sight in place, and that was an easy swap. I have only held a Shield, but never fired one.
