Default M&P 40 Detroit PD

I bought a Detroit PD 40 M&P this week. I almost think it is NITB. The magazines are new, no marks from being loaded or inserted into the gun. Everything in the case ( serial numbered to the gun). No cycling marks on the barrel or slide rails and clean as a whistle. I don't think it was ever issued. I expected a well used cop gun for my collection and was pleasantly surprised.

Congrats, sweet find. If I had to choose a full-size, open-carry, duty pistol today, it'd be a .40SW.

Where did you get it? What price? I’d love to have a Detroit PD gun

Sounds like you found the same deal I stumbled upon about 4 years ago. Mine was brand new in the box as well. Marked with "Detroit PD" on the slide and had a tiny little "un-issued" sticker hiding under the box foam. Also, walked out with it for $330. Looks like you and I are some lucky ducks!

I bought an M&P 40SW Detroit PD from Bud's Guns a little over a year ago. It was advertised as un-issued. In the box with all paper and usual goodies, with night sights that are still bright as new. I qualed with it last week, sweet pistol. I don't remember what I paid but did pay a small premium for the 'un-issued'. At the time they seemed to have a pretty good supply but I haven't checked lately.

Hard to find now. I got a 40c a couple of years ago. Not marked unissued but it sure didn’t look like it was fired

I feel like Detroit PD just got rid of their Glock 22's and Glock 27's a few years ago.....Are they really done with the Smiths already?
What do they currently carry on duty?

It is probably a 1.0; IIRC, S&W is really trying to get the agencies moved to 2.0 models and the financial incentives are pretty serious.

Default M&P 40

I bought mine at a local pawnshop, I have been dealing there for years and they know if I'm interested in something that it will be a cash and carry deal. this pistol had been in the case for 4 months or so and the starting price was $485, after a month or so it dropped to $450. I told them I was interested in PD guns but they were too high. Then PDs started to unload 40s and buy 9mms and then market got flooded here. When I told them that the APD was selling there guns to cops for $225 they lowered the price to $385. In the next month or so they picked up 4 more M&Ps and they weren't selling so they lowered the price to $350 and started to sell some. I walked in last week and all they had left was the Detroit PD and it was marked $338, I asked what the out the door price was, ALL the taxes ETC they told me $315 so I bought it.
This waiting them out does not work all the time!
