Prices are dropping fast on Gunbroker.com. Back in January and early February, Shields were selling for $800 and more. I have recently seen some get no bids at $450 and less. It is the same for all other handguns, rifles, and ammo. AR's that were selling double or more of list price, are now going for less than list price. I have found new AR's selling for well below the prices at Walmart. Ammo is still a little high, but it is way down form a few months ago. I just bought .308 rifle ammo for $.70 a round, and it was going for over $2.00 a round. And "no", I have no connection to Gunbroker, other than I have bought and sold guns and ammo, from the site. I have never had an issue with over 50 transactions, other than a bidder that failed to pay. I just re-listed and sold it a week later.
A few suggestions: Buy from only people with at least 10 A+ feedbacks, and read the descriptions thoroughly. There are two places to look for deals, the front pages and the deeper pages. Gunbroker charges extra for featured ads, which go in front of the other ads. Example is search for "shield". The search brings up 14 pages, with the auctions expiring soonest at the top. However if you scroll to page 3, the times start lower again. These are the non-featured ads. Same as the featured ads, but deeper in the pages.
A fast way to check for items is put the cursor over the "Browse Categories" button, at the top. Scroll down to "Ammunition" and click on "Pistol Ammunition". This brings up 126 pages of ammo. Now you can look for a particular caliber. On the left side scroll down to 9mm Luger and click on it. It shows 26 pages of 9mm, but if you go to the bottom page marker and click in the page box, you can enter 14 and press enter. This brings up page 14 and the times remaining are short again, as you found the non-featured ammo.
There are deals to be found, but I seem to find more that are buried deeper in the non-featured pages. I would guess a lot of people don't know about these pages and don't see the ads. There are a lot of dealers selling on Gunbroker. You will find a lot of "new" guns. There are some good deals, you just have to look and be patient.
PS: Set you limit on what your willing to pay. I see many get into a bidding war ("I'm not going to get overbid mentality") and end up paying much more than the item should have sold for. I benefited from that when I sold an $1800 rifle for $2500. I was amazed, since similar rifles were going for $1600, and all I added was a cheap red dot scope a few extra mags.
