Cool M&P 40/9 conversion....

Just got in my 9mm fullsize M&P barrel for my M&P40 today...Compared all "OD' dimensions with the 9 and 40 barrels, then seated the 9 brl into the slide and reassembled the pistol...then loaded a 40/357 mag with a mixture of 9mm 125 Golden sabre, 124 Tap critical defense, and CCI aluminum blaser 115 tmj. Manually cycled the action all the way through with no problems at all. Took it to my farm range and proceeded to empty 15 rd.s I had in the magazine at 8" inch steels @ 15 yds. All hits, no problems. Took it back in, did breakdown and searched for anything wrong...No problems, no gliches...Looks like I have a 3 caliber (40/357sig/9mm) M&P now. Thanks MidwayUSA for the factory S&W M&P barrel at a great price...!!!

Good job! It's been my experience that the 40/357 mags are iffy. Some will work, some won't. Congrats on the conversion.

I have a factory 9c barrel a few 9mm mags(which I would highly recommend) for my 40c. It deffinatly gives me a great appreciation for the 9mm M&P's.

Still loving the 40c though!

when I first did the conversion (11,000+ rounds ago) I used the .40 mags and they worked "okay". As time went on though they got looser or something because rounds started jumping out as I was loading the mags. With the 9mm mags I've had zero probs.

Been considering the 9mm barrel for my 40c as well. I love the versatility of these guns!

I own a full sized M&P .40 and .40c along with their respective 9mm barrels. I've stocked up on 9mm ammo for range practice in anticipation of being able to shoot more and longer for less $ compared to lobbing .40s downrange.

Unfortunately 9mm M&P magazines are rarer than sighting Bigfoot. Just wondering if anyone has explored the possibility of converting a .40 or .45 M&P mag to 9mm by changing out the follower.

I'm recently new to firearms so I may just be off.

Thanks for your feedback/advice.

Default M&P 9mm magazine conversion (temp) solution

Since 9mm magazines are hard to come by these days I thought I'd share this info...

You can supposedly retrofit/convert a Beretta M9 magazine for use in S&W M&P pistols (not Shields).

Along the same note, I recently found this in another forum. Can't enter the URL directly. Try <http://mp-pistolDOTcom/mp-talk/35899-how-convert-m-p40-mags-feed-9mm.html>
