Without any other IWB to compare to (going on 2 months wait for the ordered Super Tuck), I give Remora a thumbs up. My Shield is carried all day, every day in one with the full sweat shield. They seem to be a very reputable company with good product. That's all I can help with at this time.

I agree with webfarmer. It's so much easier and more comfortable to carry my shield with a remora than my old faithful. I'm almost considering sending the old faithful back. But I need to try out all the positions before I do that. The way I have it now, it's hard to drive with the old faithful. But the remora is no problem at all.

Handy for carry, terrible for live fire training, and I believe in training with what you carry.
You cannot reholster without muzzling yourself.

I just ordered a Remora for my XDS's (9 & 45) I have no experience with Remora other than I have a Sticky Holster which is almost the same holster/concept.
The one I ordered is with the partial sweat shield. With the 30% off sale going on right now it was 26 and some change shipped.
I agree with Tbell on the Old Faithful..I ordered one of them and do not find it comfortable at all...not to mention I've only holstered my Shield a few times in it and already showing a bit of holster wear....seriously? I know carry gun etc prone to wear but hate to see what the Shield would look like after hundreds of re-holstering time It may be going back
I find the Sticky very comfortable and am not worried about re holstering if the shtf. It is comfortable and it stays where you put it
I'd say go for it especially with the 30% off sale going on now

I tried carrying my 40c in one for a couple of days but it wouldn't stay put, it kept sliding down my waistband. It now resides in my "drawer of holsters".

For a short trip, walking the dog or something like that I think they are fine, I prefer Sticky Holster - they are very similar to Remora but I prefer the material on the SH much more.
I sold my Remoras and picked up SH's. That said I do not use them that much anymore, once I found a holster that worked in all scenarios I had little use for the remora/sticky.

Contrary to some posters here, my Remora with the re-enforced opening with no sweat shield hugs me and my 9mm Shield in EDC and re-holstering is effortless WITHOUT having to pull out the Remora and insert the Shield and re-tuck. Pants, sweats and shorts, the best IWB for the buck. It works!

An IWB holster without a means to fasten the holster to the belt is a disaster looking for a place to happen. Friction combined with a slightly tacky surface is all that holds it in place. Think about all the things you may have to do during the day, especially bath room visits, and it is easy to see why such a "holster," if you can call it that, is just not a well thought out idea.
One woman posted in another thread that the Remora could be removed, placed in the purse and hung on the door hook in the toilet. That works with a holster which fastens to the belt also, so I do not really get the point.
You will not see too many people who are honest enough to admit that they have lost the gun down their pants or worse posting on this or other forums, as to do so betrays the fact that they "bought the kool-aid" in the first place. One poster did so, and I admire that poster for educating the rest of us.
I vote a resounding "no" on Remora or any other belt or IWB holster that does not have a means to fasten the holster to the belt. The only place for a holster without a belt type fastener is a pocket.

I have a Remora for my SIG P250C as well as my BG380. Both are comfortable, however both are slightly modified from stock. The slide hung on the Sig and the BG380 went in too deep. I prefer and use my CB super tuck for my SIG and an Old Faithful for the BG380.

The Sticky also fits in my front pocket as well with either my Shield or XDs
I still cant believe that the Old Faithful started to wear the finish on the Shield so quickly....on the Kydex side no less...thought Leather was more of a wearer on finish. We are talking less than 10 draws jeeesh

I said nay because my experience with one wasn't good. I had read a lot of positive reports about the Remora so I got one for my Kahr CM9. I found it so sticky that I could not slide it inside my waistband with belt fastened, or even with it unbuckled. I had to undo my pants, try to get it positioned and hold it there while I redid my pants and belt, which I could never accomplish with any satisfaction. I found it overly bulky and too sticky for concealed carry on my waist or in my pants pocket.
A plus for the company: I returned it for a refund, which he did in a very prompt and friendly manner. Nice guy!
After that, I found a no clip holster that I really like: the Stays-Put Ultra. Just $14.95 shipped. Well made out of specially treated breathable microfiber with a smooth nylon liner. Without optional reinforcement, it stays open for easy reholstering. It is not icky sticky, yet it Stays-Put wherever I put it: in my pocket when I draw the gun, and I like to slide it inside my waistband in the AIWB position where it stays put behind my snug belt (and I don't have to unbuckle to position it). It is not nearly as bulky as the Remora and it is extremely comfortable. I have 3 of them for my small pistols.

I use one just about everyday and own several. They are extremely comfortable and stay in place with my Amish made leather belt. I have one on right now that I wore about 12 hours today.
This is the only holster that I use except when I pocket carry. For pocket carry, I use a Mika.

From photos, I'd guess the Remora material has better grip. My experience with a SW990Lc in a Sticky was "okay." I always felt (mentally that is) that it was going to slide down my pants or pop out over my waistband, but it didn't. Then the smaller Shield arrived (what I had ordered it for), and shazam. It fell into my pants once and popped out of my waistband twice.
To be fair, the Shield in an Uncle Mike's IWB Sidekick started to come out of my pants once. Part of the problem is the barrel isn't long enough to put enough of the gun's mass behind or below the beltline. I can wear that U.M. S.K. with just the belt running through the clip (holster worn outside of my shorts but inside the belt - yes, redneck, but covered with a t-shirt), and it stay put all day. But inside my jeans, the tip of the pistol was getting pushed up hard enough to push the holster clip off the pants and belt.
This thread is about the Remora (and Sticky), but my experience with the U.M. S.K. helped me rethink the Sticky holster (for the worse). For me, I haven't found a sweet spot for the Shield in the Sticky. Either it's too high and will work itself out, or if it's low enough that the gun's center of mass is well-positioned, it doesn't take too much time/motion before it falls down into the pants. It is not worth my time to even try the Remora even though the material looks to have more friction. I can't imagine having to run with a clipless holster.
My name isn't Shawn McCarver, but I support his message.

Your body type probably goes a long way determining whether a Sticky/Remora type will work or not for you
I'm 5'11 about 200lbs with a 34-36 waist and have never felt like either my Shield or xDs was ever in danger of falling into my pants or popping out over the top.
As SW40 states it didn't work for him....you mileage will vary. Works fine for me and protects the firearm from holster wear. I've yet to try a nice leather IWB holster so maybe that's an option I'll explore eventually but for now the Sticky/Remora is great

Hello everyone this is my first post here in this forum and I have a question about the new leather lined Remora's.
I like them I've carried my Glocks with the original Remora and now I have a Shield so I need to order another remora, the shield fits and stays put in the remora that is sized for glocks but I'd like the correct size which of course is a little smaller.
Does anyone have any experience yet with the new leather lined model? All Remora's website says is that it is thinner but I'd like a little more info before I order because the "Hyde" leather lined models are $10 extra.
If you have a leather lined remora please post your thoughts, even better is if you have experience with the original as well as the new leather lined that would be great. Thanks

The poll should have been set up to only allow votes from those who have ACTUALLY carried a Remora IWB.
I just ordered another one for my Sig Sauer .380 P238 HDW.

Yeah, maybe it has to do with size of the person too. I'm 5'6" 162lbs and wear a 34 jeans. I've never had problems with it coming up or down.

Received my Remora holster yesterday for my xDs 9. Same concept as the Sticky but a little different design. 6 ART SS I think....Wore it around the house for a bit. While it may be too early to tell, the Sticky feels a bit more comfortable. Time will tell

I have many. Use all and love 'em!
I'm a big fan.
Except the ankle rig. It's a nice set-up but ankle carry is not for me. Thankfully it's convertible.

Honestly, I thought the remora worked pretty good until I accidentally brushed against the side view mirror of my van, and my PPS flipped out somehow. Luckily, it landed in the grass.

My brother in law had this happen in a store on a shelf display, no idea how but it did. He was shi$#ing himself...

You must have had it riding either really high or real loose. I can't see this happening at least in how I wear it. It will probably happen to me tonight now that I've questioned it lol

I like Remoras... I especially like the ones I use for a small 380 (2ART) and another for a single-stack 9 mm (4ART). I use the small sweat shield with ART versions and carry both of these pistols either in the pocket, or in the waist band. I have a tuckable (4ART) version that doesn't get used as often. I also have an (6) OWB/IWB for my M&P9C too.

Remora works well for me. If you place it right IWB, it will stay put. I reciently did a 2200 mi trip on my Harley, and my 9C was secure all the time. I'm not as concerned (as some are) about reholstering issues. Practice or real life, I'm only drawing if I intend to use my pistol. Draws ok on range.

My wife and I both tried one, and the design just did not work for us. I gave them away, and both of the recipients had the same results. So, to answer your question, four of us personally tried it, and we all found the concept not to our liking. If a Remora works for you, by all means, go for it.

My experience has been good. I would not want one without the reinforced top though.

I have a Remora with Remorahyde for my P938 with sweat shield and really like it. It's fairly new and hasn't yet taken good form, but I notice it less than other holsters I've tried. I have sticky holster for BP9CC, a two other remoras for other setups. One plain and one with a partial sweat shield. The remorahyde is thinner and still comfortable padded enough. The sweat shield is a must in my opinion. Nothing digs into me and I don't sweat on my gun. I've done two full days walking around, in and out of the car a dozen or two times, gone out to lunch and the holster didn't move one but.
I probably won't need another holster any time soon, but if I do, it'll be a remora with full sweat shield and remorahyde liner. I do like the sticky holster tack better, but they don't have a leather liner option yet.

Thanks for the info about the leather lined vs. the regular and for the pics as well.
I have still been considering which version to get for my shield and the leather lined sounds best on paper because it is suppose to be thinner but I worry it may be more rigid and thus less comfortable. I have a original remora for my glock and like it so when I got a XDs I ordered another and went with the reinforced top. I found it less comfortable than the original so I gave it to a friend and that is why I'm hesitant about ordering the leather lined.
I'm still thinking I'm going to order the leather lined because it is thinner and every little bit helps even if it is a little stiff it will eventually break in and it does not appear to be as rigid as the reinforced version to begin with and that is what I'm really trying to figure out. Thanks for the help I have until Sunday to decide I don't want to miss the fathers day discount or I may be kinking myself.

I wouldn't consider the leather lined "stiff" as much as shaped. It's more comfortable to me than the non leather lined.
Is it worth $10. Yep.

I was told by Remora that the liner option means you can't wash the entire holster. You'll have to just wipe the exterior. It also means not being able to heat and reshape your holster.
I have a 2R-A and 5ART holster with no issues to date but you do need to ensure the holstered gun is secured right. Too high or too low in baggy pants/shorts may lead to it popping out or slipping down. I keep the center of the gun cinched.

I've carried my M&P Compact in a Remora since around April of 2011. I purchased the holster just to try it out and see if it worked as advertised. I figured it might be a nice holster to throw on to run to the corner store, etc.
Over the past two years the Remora has become the only off-duty holster I will use! I have tried to go back to other brands (Galco Triton, Crossbreed, etc.) because I'm a gear freak and have a hard time sticking to one platform... but I can't get away from the convenience and adjustability of the Remora. I'm 5'11", 190lbs and have no problems with shifting or falling out. The M&P9C holster is the reinforced ART model. I also have a Remora for my Beretta 950BS, S&W 342PD, and just put another into service with my "new to me" CS9. I definitely think the ART is mandatory, and for daily carry I like the reinforced top. For the best concealment the standard (non-reinforced) model works a bit better.
As for muzzle-safety when holstering...With the reinforced top I can holster as easily as with any other IWB holster. Another method I use, especially in an administrative capacity since I carry AIWB, is to remove the holster with my support hand holding over the front of the holster (essentially over the top of the slide if the gun were sitting in the holster), bring the firearm up opposite my hand and place the gun into the holster...I never muzzle my hand. I can then replace the holster/gun in my waistband with no danger of something coming into contact with the trigger.
Lastly...I have noticed that with any new Remora, it takes a few days of carry before the material "wears in" and becomes really comfortable. I forgot about that part when I started carrying the CS9 and it felt bulky and uncomfortable. A few days of carry and it's good to go.
I tried the Sticky Holster for my S&W 915 and while it seems more sticky than the Remora, I didn't like the build quality, options or fit as much as the Remora models. I actually used the version for a shorter barrel to allow a good grip in the holster. It works well for its purpose but if I had to pay for one or the other my vote goes for Remora.
Another pic...I sold the LC9 and its holster because it's not approved for carry by my department, but what a great combo!
