Default Pro 9-Opinions?

I have several FS M&Ps and a Compact 40 and a Shield 40. I'm really interested in a 9 FS to plink with and was originally going to just buy a barrel for my FS 40. I may still do that, however; my dealer has offered me a FS 9mm M&P Pro with 2x17 mags for $540. Kinda hard to walk away from.

FWIW, I have an old 92F (My first HG purchase.) that I love and love to shoot, but I really like the M&Ps and am starting to gather quite a "collection." LOL

I don't see many people talking about the Pro lineup around here. Any opinions?

Thanks!

I have a 40 cal Pro Series (4.25"). I have ~500 rounds through it with no issues. As far as I have been told the only big difference between the Pro Series is sights and an upgraded trigger. I love it though.

I had a two-tone pro 5" 9mm with the apex trigger kit and it was great. Had well over 2k rounds through it without a hiccup. Nice pistol, but didn't really have a use for it so I swapped for a like new 3913 which became my edc.

I have a PRO 4.25" 40 cal and just picked up a PRO CORE 5" 9mm a few weeks ago. The PRO 40 is my duty weapon and is outstanding; I have put probably 2,000 rounds down range with it, no issues and great accuracy. The PRO CORE 9mm is another great gun. I have only put a couple of hundred rounds through it but it has amazing accuracy with little recoil....I believe it will be a sweet shooter for sure!
The only negative thing I have to say about them is that they have a bit of a gritty trigger pull; which appears to be a common issue and a fairly easy/cheap issue to fix. Even with that being said, IMO it is definitely not a deal breaker. I am a fan of the PRO series for sure. Good luck.

I absolutely love my 9 Pro! I have about 1600+ rounds though it and have never had an issue. It is very accurate and it is my most favorite M&P pistol to shoot (I have four). The trigger is a non issue (if even at all) as after you shoot it for a little while it works itself out and turns into a nice smooth pull after a short while. Mine was never really bad to begin with and now it is smooth as butter. I highly recommend it!

Thanks guys! Still trying to decide what to do. Bobermo made some very good points, as did the rest of you. I guess I just have to decide if that $500 is burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks!

Picked up the Pro today. Couldn't stand it. Couldn't walk away from what I thought was a very good deal. I'll put a hundred through it tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I did the right thing.

I can still get the 4.5 9mm barrel for my .40 if I want to since the Pro is a 5" barrel.

Thanks all.
