Default Shield Slide Plate Has Play

Hi Everyone,

I disassemble my 40 Shield and when I put the slide end cap back on, it snapped into place and seems to have locked on the nylon striker housing. There is some vertical play in the slide end plate, however. Is this normal? Thank you!

I just checked my Shield and there is a small amount of vertical play. Slight, but it is there.

How much play would you say? It snapped in place but am I doing anything wrong with the assembly? It just slides into place like a Glock, right

All I can say is it wiggles a bit. I do not own a Glock so I cannot help more than that.

Mine moves about the thickness of a penny or nickel, if that makes sense

That looks like the striker sleeve is not locked into it.

It snapped into place and won't move farther down than the image illustrates. When I put it back together the movement stops, so should I assume it isn't an issue?

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's not an issue. Assemble the gun, lock the slide back and see if it drops down. That could be a problem when firing. My plate on my 40c and my SD9VE will not move at all when locked in place. And when I had a Glock, it would only barely wiggle.

That sucker is locked in there! I tried everything to try to seat it better, but nothing worked..
