Default M&P 22 Range Test

Picked up my M&P 22 recently and tried my 1st course of fire of 30 rounds @ 3, 7 and 15 yards. I'm impressed with the pistol -- I've carried a Sig as a duty weapon and this was my 1st attempt with a Smith & Wesson. I'm afraid to change the stock sights.

Nice shooting, don't change anything and just enjoy your new M&P22.

Thank You -- I don't want anyone to think I'm bragging about my shooting. Rather I'm impressed with a pistol that is designed to be a cheaper .22LR. The trigger is a little different than I'm use to but the pistol shoots very well. I'd recommend it to anyone -- best part is my little range test only cost me $1.50 in ammo. I've shot cheap ammo and more expensive ammo through the gun. To date -- zero failures. You can't say that about most other .22 pistols that seem to be ammo finicky.

I did a 25 yard sandbag test with my M&P22, using various brands of ammo and the tightest groups were with Mini-Mag 36 grain HP. All shots grouped 2.5 inches and less.

2.5" groups sounds pretty good for 25 yards, although 10 MOA does not. Not bad for a 4.25" barrel!
It will shoot these sized groups with the factory sights, or the Dawson fiber optic sights I switched to. POA to the center of the bullseye is POI.
I have a Ruger 22/45 that is even more accurate. With a 2MOA red dot, it will shoot into less than an inch at 25 yards.
Of course, both of these guns have had trigger work and break at 3lbs or less.

I can consistantly hit an 8" round steel plate with mine at 25 yards. For me that"s great shooting! It's an amazing gun.

Thats great to hear. I just ordered a 22lr version. For the range today I shot my .45 M&P and couldn't resist the 22 version they had in order to shoot more.
