Default Question about barrels from Brownells

So I ordered a factory S&W barrel for my M&P 9 from Brownell's for my inaccurate M&P. I'm hoping since they have been out of stock this will be a new, more accurate barrel. I figured I'd rather spend $70 buck on a barrel than going through the hassle of sending it back to S&W so the can drift the rear sight and call it fixed.

Just to clarify, I have two full size 9s, one is a tack driver and one shoots patterns like a shotgun. Has anyone else gotten a new S&W barrel from Brownell's or Midway? How did it work out for you?

There are more variables than just the barrel for accuracy, so your new barrel will so show you if it is the barrel itself. Since you can shoot one gun accurately, it is not likely your shooting, but is gun related. Other sources are barrel lockup, clearance between the barrel and slide, side clearance at the breech face, excessive slide play, really bad ammo, etc.

I am sure if the barrel doesn't improve the problem, the gun will be going back to S&W. They should pick up the shipping costs, so all you will be out is the use of the gun for 2-3 weeks. You would not be the first to send your gun back for accuracy issues.

I did get the replacement barrel today and externally it looks identical, but it definitely has a faster rate of twist. Both of my pistols have the same, slower, twist rate. but like I said, one shoots 100% than the other.

I may get to shoot the new barrel later next week. I look forward to trying it.
