Default Good times at range.

Learned a lesson today. I took my shield 9mm and a recently acquired fnx40. I started with the .40 fnx and I was all over the paper. There just was no control. I then fired some fed HST 147 grain plus p and... I was amazed that I was shooting in the same holes. I love this shield and realize I'm better with a 9, .40 might be harder hitting but it seems if shot placement is king, I feel warm and fuzzy carrying my shield 9mm.

Placement is king no matter what caliber u use. You can place the .22LR in the right spot and it'll be deadly. You can miss the spot with a .45 and the target will continue coming forward, lol

Without proper shot placement, u may as well not even be carrying.

I agree. I recently got a full size 9mm and have maybe 500 rounds through it. I have around 3000 through my shield 9mm and shoot the shield noticeable better. The full size feels better in my hand and actually has a better trigger reset than my shield so much that I'm really thinking apex kit for the shield, but I shot the shield way better! Its a great little gun!

Hi, that's pretty much what I was getting at. I got the fnx40 for a good price, but totally forgot how much I hate .40 cal. Do you all think fnx40 for a m&p 9mm full size is a good trade? Like 17 round mags.

I heard the full size m&p 9mm trigger is gritty with no positive reset. Is your trigger good because of the amount of rounds through it, you got lucky and got a good trigger, or did you do the apex trigger job?

No the full size trigger was great out the box. No where near as gritty as my shield trigger is. The full size is brand new and it's only a few weeks old so I'm thinking they've approved them that much. Compared to my shield the reset feels and sounds better and is noticeably shorter. The shield is from June 2012 I think. I started shooting the full size yesterday at the range and then went to the shield. I was so used to the reset of the full size that I wouldn't let the shield trigger out far enough to reset the trigger and would squeeze the trigger before it reset. I just got the wife a new shield but haven't had a chance to check out the trigger yet.
