Default Modify full size mags into "c" models?

I'm trying to find M&P40c mags and that is going about as well as hoffa's body hunt.

I have noticed a TON of M&P40 10 round full size mags and it looks like they just have a huge base plate. Could I simply swap that thick plate for the finger grip one and call it good?

The single biggest source of reliability problems with autoloading pistols is - the magazines.

Modify magazines at your own risk.

Why modify at all. Just stick the full size mags in your c and shoot them dry. What's the point in making them shorter?

I do not think that will work as the lips at the bottom of the high cap and compact magazine tubes are folded OUT to fit into the floorplate. On the 10 round full length mags, however, the bottom lips are folded IN to allow that huge thick floorplate to slide up into the magazine well. Thus, even assuming the tube on the full length 10 round mag is the same length as the compact magazine, you still could not install the floorplate.

The Talo edition comes with one F/S magazine. All you need is a X-grip.

I did that with my FS 10 round 9mm mags for when I put the 9mm barrel on my 40c. There are two different finger rest baseplates and the first picture is the one that changed my FS 9mm mags into 9c mags, the second picture is the normal finger rest baseplate. It might do the same for the 40.

I'm looking to do this for the shorter carry mags. Not the ridiculous full size sticking out. I have full size m&p's for that.

Tectrry ok thanks. It looks like they are prett much the same from photos and from a manufacturing stand point it would be cheaper to just have different plates on the 10 rounders.

I was a my range yesterday and they had both a 40c and a 40fs magazine so I grabbed one of each and when I got home I tried the same thing that I did on my 9 mags and although the finger rest baseplate fit (first picture not second), the converted mag ended up being a little over 1/4 inch longer and hung out the bottom. It worked but stuck out. There might be a part to do it with, but not the ones I have.
