Default Pro Mag Magazines: Pleasantly Suprised

I picked up a 9mm barrel for my M&P 40FS and haven't been able to find and factory mags so despite the bad press I picked up a couple Pro Mags from Cabela's. I had them to the range this evening and they performed pretty darned good. I had one ftf on the second round but after that, 108 without a hitch. I hope I lucked out and got a couple of keepers.

I picked up a couple Pro Mag 17 rounders recently and have not been able to tell the difference between them and my S&W 17 rounders. I load them all up and go out back to shoot. I can't tell which I just shot u less I look at them.

Yep, same here. Picked up 2 17rounders when S&W mags were non-existent, put couple hundred rounds through each of them in my MP40 w/9mm conversion barrel. Even mixed rounds in the mags, i.e. mixed brands, FMJ, JHP, 115 & 124 gr etc... Not a single issue yet.

Me too. I picked some up because of price and non-existent factory mags. 110 rounds and no failures.

I'd like to know how they run in a FS M&P 9mm. Not that it should be any different than running it in a converted .40 setup. Anyone have anything to report in a stock FS M&P 9?

A friend of mine put 50 rounds through a FS M&P 9 using a Promag last weekend and didn't have any issues. I picked one up this week so hopefully I'll have the same experience.

I'm reserving judgement on these until someone tells me they've put a thousand or so rounds through them and bounced them off the floor a dozen times or so. This is what I put my mags through on a monthly basis. I hope they work out but at the moment I won't trust them in match conditions.

I put about 300 rounds thru my M&P FS9 with the 17 round ProMags and they did work fine. The springs are much weaker and the bottom plate doesn't quite match up but they did work ok. I wouldn't use them in a life or death situation but range time was faster having a couple extras loaded and ready.

It's good to hear the positive reviews.

I've got about 350 rounds through 2 promags without any issues. And certainly dropped them a few times. So far so good but I guess we will see once they get into the thousands.

I'm glad the ProMags are working well enough for people during the M&P magazine shortage crisis. It's sad that it has pushed us to the desperate point of using ProMags. I hope things will get better soon. Let's not forget this experience and make sure we have enough mags so we're not put in this position again. Lack of magazine availability is a jeer for S&W and a cheer for Glock.

Looks like the company listened to all the bad reviews and did something to redeem themselves.

I agree though... I'm not going to blow my money on a bunch of them until I see how they hold up in the long run.

If they did improve the quality of their pistol mags, they need to do a 'We Listened' campaign.
