Default New M&P 9L Pro Core

Picked up my new toy Friday and my first impression is "I wanted a new toy and project to work on" but I didn't think the project would be fixing it before I upgraded it." The trigger feels like its been rolled in the sand before it was shipped. The pull weight isn't bad, but what is with the gritty feeling? I planned on stripping and polishing everything as part of the project, but it looks like I'll replacing a lot of things with the Apex parts. I like the concept of the pistol and I think I'll get over the trigger eventually. Wish me well!

The gritty feeling is from where the trigger bar pushes against the striker block. It will eventually smooth out, or you can polish the back part of the trigger bar ramp. The trigger bar is a stamped sheet metal part that apparently doesn't get polished as part of the process. (though this is also hit and miss because I've had some that don't have the gritty feeling at all). An Apex kit may correct this but since Apex retains the stock trigger bar it's a **** shoot. The replacement striker block has more radius and this usually corrects the grit, but not always.

dry fire the hell out of it & shoot it, the grit will go away. It did on my 40c, full size 40 & 40 shield, all of which I bought last year, all had gritty triggers and all are now smooth as butter with stock parts. My 9 CORE which i just bought still has a gritty trigger, this will eventually get better.

I have the pro and have the same gritty trigger but honestly I think it is a none issue because when i'm actually shooting the gun I have never noticed the grit.

All it takes is 2 minutes with a 320 grit 3M sandpaper/emory at the point shown.
