Has anyone ever used Talon Grips on any of their firearms let alone the M&p Shield?

Looking into buying them to add a little more of a sound grip but I was just wondering if anyone has any information about them and their performance..

I have the rubberized version on my Shield 9mm. I like them a lot. I had trouble holding the gun solidly before I put them on and now it is very comfortable to shoot. The gun does not slip in my hand like it did before I put them on.

I asked the question similarly after I shot my friend's full size M&P with the talon grips. Talon grips make a world of difference with the skate board tape texture, but the consensus seems to be don't use them on carry gun, use the rubber talon grips, grippier than stock grip but not nearly as good as the skate board tape stuff.

I couldn't believe how damn grippy the talon grips really are and was thoroughly impressed. My friend carries an XD with the skate board tape style talon grips, so I guess it's doable. Some say it will break in after about a month and you'll be able to carry it.

You could try Traction Grips too. I have their rubberized version on my 9c. Very comfy and very inexpensive. I've had them on the pistol for about 8 months I think..

Well it seems the general consensus is that the rubber grips are the way to go for concealed carry.

I was looking at the granulate (skateboard) style because that seemed like the one that maintained the lowest profile. Do the rubber grips increase the bulkiness of the weapon and if so, is it really a big deal?

I believe they're both the same thickness, only difference is with granulate you can overlap a little in the back, rubber cannot be overlapped and I believe Talon cuts them to the proper grip to make them dummy proof when installing.

The rubber one is no more bulky than the granulated. I have the rubber talons on my shield, and am very pleased with the overall feel and added grip.

I have the rubberized Talons on my shield, and love them. I went with the Traction grips for my SR9c, and they too work great. I liked the looks of the Traction Grips for the Ruger better than the Talons. The rubberized grips are very thin and do not add to the grip size. I would guess they are maybe 1/64th of an inch thick..if that

Well I think that i'll go ahead with the rubber grip. Nice to know its dummy proof cause I was afraid messing it up.

Any idea of the affect on the weapon if you remove the grip?

No affect, they peel off, and any residue can be removed with alcohol.

Talon Grips: On my shied I have the granulate and love them!! I also have added them to other guns as well, perfect!

Try the Brooks "A-Grip" it has a velvet like texture, and you can peel it off and reinstall.

Used on a PM9 with great results.

I have the rubber talons on both my .40 Shield and FS 9mm. Had them on for about 6 months no I love them!

Got the rubberized version. They are great. Traction grips are good too. They just don't cover as much of the grip as Talons.

Talon rubber grips on my .40 shield made a very nice change. Prior to installing them I would have to repurchase my grip after 3-4 rounds. Now I can run the whole mag.

If you do order them don't forget to order extra ext. mag. grips for any extended mags that you have or plan on purchasing. One (1) will come with the grip purchase but extras are listed a little further down the page .

I like the rubberized grips. I have three of them. I like Talon more than Traction because Talons cover the whole grip. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Traction only covers the front and the sides? My advice, if you want it to look nice, go slow. I went fast on my first set, and it's not lined up very well. I'm too cheap, so far, to rip them off and buy another set.

I have the rubberized Talon's on my Shield and Traction grips in my Kahr PM9. Both work very well. The traction grips are about half the price of the Talons.

I also have the Granulate on my Shield 40 and I’m completely satisfied... As most of us know the 40 has a bit more kick than the 9 and the Granulate made a world of difference. It’s my everyday carry and no complaints here…

Well it seems that everyone is in general consensus about the rubber grips for thier weapon.

@gnystrom I appreciate the picture it really put things in perspective.

I think im gonna order the rubber ones. Wanted to make sure that there were no issues as far as sticking to clothing and having the gun print while carrying it.

It doesn't rub you raw? What about pocket carry? Do Talon grips make pocket carry impossible?

Actually no, I use the IWB Holster by ( N82TACTICAL ) and it's the most comfortable IWB I've ever come across...

I don't promote pocket carry, there is just way to many things that can go wrong when **** hits the fan.... IMO...

Rubber Talon or Traction Grips will cause no wear on your shirts or pocket liners.. The granulate version grips will eat through anything in very short order. Especially shirts and sports coat linings.
They do however, work very well as a range only product.
Try the rubber ones first, IMHO
